anoxia: they need more falsettos. Their set was beyond brutal. This is probably the best set I've heard them do yet. My only complaint is that their set seemed so short. I snapped a picture of chris's (bassist) and his hand was completely black. For a second, I was thinking "corpse paint?" but no such luck. His car had broken down.

and anyone complaining that this show is $17 is a whiner who obviously doesn't like metal.
this is malevolent fucking creation. they have been around forever and only have two "bad" CDs (one of which is the remix CD)

this show was great.

anoxia's bassist made a very dramatic entry halfway through the 2nd song.

Animosity had just the right amount of groove, I liked it very much.

Origin just kicked unholy ass.

Malevolent Creation, was Malevolent Creation. hell yeah it was good.

the best part of tonight was when kailyn told me my hair smelled nice and then she bought me a lollipop. I'm jealous of you Tom.

Malevolent KILLED...PERIOD.

Origin impressed me live considering I'm not a fan of them on CD. Incredible musicianship and very tight/well executed in a live setting...

Animosity are shitty fucking metalcore. My ears were sad...

Anoxia did their thing. People were definitely into them...

I figured that. But that's just bad business if over $1,500 dollars comes through the door and that doesn't cover everything for an upstairs show. Upstairs doesn't hold much more than hundred people. Sounds like even if it sold out it still would've lost money.
Somebody needs a calculator.

Also sounds like Malevolent are pricing themselves out of touring ever again.

I don't know what the exact figures were, but the club also takes a % and the tour also included food I bet.

If that's true, than I was right. Even if it sold out, it still would've lost money. $2,300 to cover a band that can't fill Upstairs is crazy.
If Malevolent need that much to tour they will never tour again.
Every promoter on this tour must be losing money.

why do you think it's been 10 years since they've been here? they have toured a bunch, but the package cost was too much for them to come up here. I wonder how much was lost in buffolo.. I heard there was no one there. the middle east was fairly packed.

Whole tour:
MC gets $1,500
Origin and Animosity get $150 apiece

That's typically how package tours work.

Thank you Jess for booking this!!

Un-believable show.

Unfortunately I missed ANOXIA, sorry guys.

ANIMOSITY were good. I enjoyed their set and they were very impressive being so young but it was a liiiiitle too slammy for me.

ORIGIN was the band I was most excited about and they far exceeded my expectations. Completely awe-inspiring performance from every member of the band. Words can't even describe, you have to see this band for yourself.

MALEVOLENT CREATION were excellent! Set was way too short thanks to the Middle East but the songs they played were awesome and I'm very happy I got to hear some stuff from Retribution.

I wish it had been slightly better attended but what can you do- I feel bad for people who couldnt go or found an excuse not to because they really missed out.

animosity: I thought that they were going to be the odd man out a lot worse than they were. they are on black market activities so they have "that" sound to them. the Cd that I got, I really like. it's a lot more techy sounding that they sounded live. I was really impressed with how much more brutal the vocals were in their live set and show much of and other all deathmetal show that they had. I'm guessing the gold teeth has something to do with making the vox so good. seriously, a couple times those gold things confused my autofocus they were so shiney!

origin: they completely made up for the palladium show where they got 15 minutes. they played for about 45 minutes, new stuff and old stuff a like. the past times that I've see them (all at the palladium), the sound is insanely muddy. here, they were a bit muddy, but you could hear what the guitarist were doing through it all. Also the bassplayer is awesome. they do the Impaled this with every member (minus the drumer) doing vocals along with the singer. Speaking of the drummer, I thought that nothing would be able to replace longstreth in this band especially their live set, but that new drummer sounded awesome. not as techy as jon, but he was a solid deathmetal drummer and I think played the tracks great. after their set, a bunch of people left, lame.

malevolent creation: so I have no idea what their line up was in the past. someone said there is only one original member and I don't care. Theis sound was so good, but I agree, their set was wicked short (cause of cerfew or whatever). they could have played for 30 minutes longer and people would still say they played too short.

Malevolent said theyd be back next year at least, and Origin comes to MA fairly often

DeOdiumMortis said:Oh my god. Seventeen dollars is so expensive. How can anyone afford that without cutting back on their booze/drug money?! Luckily I keep it clean so I'll be able to scrape together enough quaters to see Malevolent hit New England for the first time in 80 years or however longs it's been according to Jim.
It's a good thing we don't like "popular" music and have to pay $30, $40 or $50+ per ticket to see any show that comes around. A local show under $10 is a pretty good deal. A tour with national acts under $20 is a great deal in my book.

or when you have a job that is paying you $160 a weeks cuz your hours got cut when you're used to $260 and just had to pay $550 for rent... some people don't live with their mom's and are trying to cut it to live.

I paid $17 just to see Origin. They fucking blew my mind. The highlight was watching the bassist. I loved the way he attacked that shit, he's extremely over-looked. Metalfest and the last time I saw them at Palladium (in 2001?) gave them no justice. Best part was when they played Vomit You Out, sent it out to us, then did it DOUBLE TIME. It was really cool to walk outside and hear EVERYONE talking about the bassist. I'm telling yah, that's the secret to putting your band over the top, having a good bass player who goes balls out and keeps it together. Rock the fuck out!!!!! BASS PLAYAH!!
