upstairs. looking pretty full now. not sure.

genghis tron: eh, not really matched well on this tour. Closed minded kids don't know they should like this band yet so they just stood there. Some good natured heckling from the crowd. Who ever said that we don't need the locust when we have this band is a looosah. These dudes guys sound nothing like the locust. The samples/synths are pretty odd/disjointed dance beats. The singer runs the "drums" and one of the synths so he was always running to the back of the stage to tweak things. Sort of put a chasm in their stage presense. their set was over quickly too.

I just drove 250 miles down to this show from central Maine and got kicked out after being there for about a minute and a half. Apparently my camera looked "too professional" for the security guard at the door, even though this is an upstairs show and from my past experiences at The Palladium and what I've been told, no photo pass is needed for an upstairs show like this. I've shot for my website (http://lanimilbus.com ) five seperate times here, and only once have I had/needed a photo pass (it was for a downstairs show.)
Anyway, the guy at the door went and consulted some other Palladium staff member, then came back and told me that it was fine, I could go in because whoever he consulted told him that I didn't need a pass for this show since it was upstairs. So, after being shortchanged by the guy at the box office (I ignored it since I wanted to catch Genghis Tron's set), I went in, moved to the front, got my camera out and took exactly one picture before three security guards surrounded me and motioned me out to the lobby. Apparently somebody had changed their mind and decided that I couldn't shoot there after all, so I was asked to put my camera back in my car. So I left, put the camera away and checked into my hotel (which is within walking distance of the palladium) which is where i am now. I guess I'll go back in another hour or so to catch The Red Chord's set (assuming they let me back in), but the fact that I wasn't allowed in with the exact same camera that I've used to shoot here five times previously is pretty lame.
From the 45 seconds or so that I caught of Genghis Tron's set they were pretty good, though.

all shall perish: I saw the drummer setting up. That dude is rediculous. That's not even quite the word to describe it. but that was when he was practicing behind the stage. Then he got on stage and seriously looked bored... Most of the time he looked like he was barely putting any effort in at all. anyhow, they sent a song out to will (dysentery)? Curious. Kids were off for all their songs. The temperature in that place shot up until I was sweating my ass off. somewhere along in their set, a bunch of sweaty dudes made it on stage to sing along. I'm pretty sure the words were "bree reet brot!". Then, it was over.

I went back and caught TTEOTD and The Red Chord. Pretty great performances from both of them, and waayyy more crowd participation for TRC than I've seen at their live shows before. Looking forward to seeing pictures, especially since I wasn't able to get any.

there are A LOT of pictures of the audience. a lot of people being creepy and a lot of people that I'm wondering "is that a boy or girl?"

despised icon: It's funny seeing Al in this band. Funnier still seeing BSV and Adam at this show. This band is a great bridge between the two worlds of music and Al just adds to it. when Al walked up on stage, I saw him hand a pick to someone. He walked over to me and I said that he should put his face on his picks. he plops one down and it's already there. this dude is like 4 months of more ahead of me. er.. joke-wise at least. Their set was completely sick. kids in the audience even knew the songs from the CD that just came out (I think they were actually the new songs on the myspace). The shorter singer kept having to hold himself up on the slippery monitors.

through the eyes of the dead: Hilarious that the nate johnson fan club shuffled in just for these guys set. Friends and Family... though the friends were all wasted. the family, not so much. I also went from the only photographer to one of like 2324232 on that stage. The whole set was a lot better than th eother times I saw them. I just didn't hear as much guitar masturbation. Even the new MS track is missing it. Watching all the people from the back of the stage run over and attempt stage diving was the funniest part.

red chord, the: Odd.. the NJ4LIF club left after tteotd so the room was a little less full. It didn't help the temperature and the humidity. You couldn't really notice the missing people unless you looked into the middle of the pit. This is probably the first time I've ever seen them with so much time to play. All the most recent time, they are flying through the set. this time they were able to waltz through all the tracks. Not only did they play 4 songs from revolving doors, but 4+ songs from the new CD, and I think 4 from clients. Most of the songs featured guest vocals by whom ever in the crowd got to the mic.
