On our way out at 2:30pm the F-15 Eagle was doing its demonstration. Shame, looked like the best out of the 3. (Saw the F-16 Fighting Falcon earlier in the day and the F-18 SuperHornet around noon). They didn't stick to the schedule at all today and didn't hand out an updated schedule to the public. There were no big planes at all. Besides the fighter jet demos the rest of the day was filled with some aerobatics and smoke stuff which I'd say only about 30 minutes worth combined was interesting. The Golden Knights were not as snazzy as I anticipated. The sun beat the shit out of us so we decided to leave and skip the Blue Angels which I'm guessing was the only cool thing left. Waiting 4 hours to leave the base at 5pm in traffic would not have been so cool. Anyway.. I spent a total of 4 hours in the sun, reapplied SPF 85 3 separate times and still look like someone threw red paint on me. Damn my euromut skin. All in all it was a good time though. Seeing the fighter planes in action was awesome. Some of the static displays were cool. A-10's, B-52, and some other stuff. My dad chatted up the crew chiefs for the Blackhawk and Huey helicopters since he did all that shit in 'nam. |
