I remember seeing PTL Klub at TT the bears when I was like 15, thinking "who the fuck are these old men?!?!"...they were openers for someone younger, I can't recall who right now. Anyway, we watched their whole set regardless of thinking it was weird to see 40ish men playing punk-core. Guess what? By the end of their set, or after, there we were buying 7 inches and t-shirts! By looking beyond the superficialities, we found a "new" band to really dig, guys who had like you said, paved the way. |

For all I knew, RRW could be a badass thrash band or they could be some horrible pop punk band that got on the bill cuz the singer is Dave Witte's little sisters boyfriendd or something. And I opted not to stand around in that really unpleasant room to take the chance. I don't keep saying "I" because I'm taking this personally btw, it's because I think my experience is probably indicative of a lot of the kids there. I'm just trying to say that I don't think the reason people went outside for the opening bands is some "god damn young whippersnappers with no respect" attitude, it's a lack of promotion and a disgustingly hot venue. |
