______________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 1:41am - the_reverend ""] once again, I had issues getting in. the guy at the door ALWAYS does that to me and ALWAYS doesn't remember me from all the other times that I was there and had the same exact issues. oh well, WWW got um.. julie? from http://www.absolutmetal.com who came and pulled me in. thank you. raising kubrick: they sounded awesome. I couldn't hear blues vocals, but want ever. definitely came out well on that pa. throwing shrapnel: sounded good, but not as good as last night. they had some technically dificulties that were worked out just as I ran out of the club. WWW blamed it on me.. but I can't make smoke come out of things on comand. screams of erida: so... getting from the AS220 to rathborn st took me FOREVER. I kept getting on 6w and heading for onlyville. anyhow, I got there for their last song. sounded good and people were dancing around. to all the other bands, I was in PVD for the other show.. sorry... I came back cause shows at the living room usually go until 1am.. oh well.... |
_____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 3:03am - poopsmcgee ""] invocation was good |
__________________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 3:39am - DaveFromTheGrave ""] Rev, what's up with those pics of firetrucks? what was that place that caught on fire? |
____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 9:26am - handinjury ""] Raising Kubrick sounded awesome, and i like that new song they played. Burning silence was also very good- very good guitar playing. That sucks that WWW's marshall fried or whatever, thats an expensive head. It seemed like hardly anyone was drinking. |
_________________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 9:30am - kellthevalkyrie ""] this was a good time. i hadn't been to the living room in ages. |

________________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 11:07am - greggdeadface ""] come on guys the real reason why tnc... did not play was,we left our tight pants at home, our white belts ,and our beatles hair cuts.mmm and most of us are at a normal weight(fat).oh yeah but the biggest reason... WE ARE GRINDCORE,NOT SECOND RATE FASIONGRINDMOSHCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry just needed to get that of my chest. |
_____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 12:33pm - anonymous ""] so you guys didnt play because of the other bands that were playing the show, who in my opinion were all great bands. thats lame |
______________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 12:57pm - dourcursiva ""] besides the fact that about 20 kids showed up to this gig, it was a great time... raising kubrick: 2nd time ive seen them, last time was about 2 years ago at jarrods with ATNFAC, theyve gotten much better since then. great live energy, good grindish breakdowns. throwing shrapnel: death metal with technial problems, broken amps, all of the band members faced the drummer. but otherwise they were good. the heuristic: they were tech/spaz kinda stuff which isnt really what im into, they were intense though. screams of erida: great band, good live sound, reminded me of old beyond the embrace with breakdowns, maybe thats because of the 3 guitar players, i dunno. very impressed, these guys could be going somewhere. burn in silence: best band of the night. they were tight, great breakdowns, solid vocals, a good mix of death metal and hardcore. invocation of nehek: put on a damn good show, the singer was humerous. i dunno most of you have probably heard them, they sounded like they do on cd. it was funny when the bass player fell over at the end of the show. |
_______________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 1:59pm - greggdeadface ""] i am sure we wern't missed anonymous,so ya still had a fun time right??? even though we didnt play... so we all in the end |
_____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 2:17pm - KeithMutiny ""] i went to see The Nightmare Continues... i got pissed at pretty much everyone at this show, and was completely fed up with what was going on... and that kid filming the documentary now has a nice portrayal of how 2 bit rock stars ignore everyone except for themselves... thats gonna make new england look great Hard pressed that i will ever go to another show involving those bands that so poorly "represented" the concept of having a diverse show. I'd have to fully agree with the TNC guys on this one, as well as every single other person that i was friends with at this show that said the same things, whether they post them here or not. A good portion of the people at this show felt this way and hope you guys have fun getting famous, get the fuck out of here and start your trend somewhere else, we dont need your arrogance here. |
_______________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 2:32pm - greggdeadface ""] all hail keith and bro i am sory i havent introduced myself yet but oneday me and u in a jim beam drinnkn contest in olneyville at our space...the challange has been issued.hahahahaha |
________________________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 2:51pm - whiskey_weed_and_women ""] i love you Greggs ! |
_____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 2:56pm - dourcursiva ""] i dont understand what you guys are saying about these bands acting like rock stars?? i did notice that the guys from the bands werent really being nice to the kids that showed up. but i just assumed that most of the guys from the bands were pissed off that almost no one showed up to this gig. and that is why they were being antisocial. im more inclined to blame the kids (or lack of kids ) in RI than the bands for the general shittyness of this show. and why does everyone hate metalcore on this site, is it simply because its been getting popular lately??? |
_____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 3:05pm - KeithMutiny ""] ive never liked metalcore, but thats besides the issue, it could have been ANY type of music, thats not the point. the point is when other bands are playing a show thats helping to support your act, dont fucking sit around the parking lot blasting shit that can be heard inside the club itself and ignoring them. The people in the bands dont like the turn out, well fuck them for not promoting it, tough fucking shit, whether theres 10 people or 2,000 (in the fucking palladium), thats pretty shitty to be so ignorant of your "scene", karmas a bitch, remember that, im so fucking glad this trend is slowly dying. |
________________________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 3:21pm - whiskey_weed_and_women ""] people need to learn how to promote shows, and realize they aren't rockstars. it takes more then throwing shrapnel and raising kubrick to promote a show and hope for a goodturn out. if the other bands were upset cause of it maybe they should realize just cause they play palladium show they aren't rockstars yet and should actually promote themselves. |
____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 3:32pm - anonymous ""] Actually the people rocking out to cypress hill in the parking lot were invocation of nehek and there friends. |

________________________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 3:36pm - whiskey_weed_and_women ""] umm i know i wanted to see the Nightmare Continues..anytime over any band playing....unless it's Sin of Angels then i dont know Ha |
____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 3:42pm - anonymous ""] I dont think nehek were trying to act like rockstars, there were just hanging out and drinking with there friends, every one is getting upset over nothing. |
________________________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 3:46pm - whiskey_weed_and_women ""] naw, i wasn't referring to ION when i said anything in my other posts. however they did know it was their friends out in the parking lot acting like dicks to the other bands. |
_________________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 3:50pm - kellthevalkyrie ""] wow. i had no idea there was so much scene drama last night. i was drinking beer and having fun. *shrugs* |
_____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 3:50pm - KeithMutiny ""] trying or not, whats done is done, it was a horrible reflection on the people that booked the show and the bands that actually put thier heart into it and promote local metal as much as possible, its fucking pathetic... lets go to a show and sit outside and be annoying all night, then only go watch our friends band, fuck everyone else... next time just give ION the money straight forward and save us all the hassle, stay home and drink in your own driveway. |
______________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 6:37pm - diamond_dave ""] dourcursiva said: im more inclined to blame the kids (or lack of kids ) in RI than the bands for the general shittyness of this show. i dunno, i've played at least 5 sold out shows in providence, sometimes with only local bands on the bill. there are plenty of kids here. everytime we've played a "metalcore" show, the turnout and the quality of people was similar to last night. and why does everyone hate metalcore on this site, is it simply because its been getting popular lately??? lately? it's been the trend for the last 5 years at least, finally it's starting to wane. and it's because it's just that. it's a trend. more about fashion and breakdowns than living this shit. (and by "this shit" i mean music not "the scene") that being said, respect to sean and anyone else who put the effort in to try and make a good thing happen in providence. |

_____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 9:56pm - dourcursiva ""] well in defense of my statements..i did not know about the blaring music during the first bands, that is pretty shitty to do. and im not saying that RI has a bad scene or that the kids arent really into it, im just saying that on that particular night no one was around. my band has also played in providence at the living room about a month ago and there were about 80 kids there all for a terrible night for a curse, us (dour cursiva), and theyre all robots!. it was a great show and demonstrated the close nit commutiny that is RI metal/core. but as far as metalcore goes i like it because i like the blend of both styles. i dont like metalcore because its popular . i actually agree with most of you that it is a trend and kids like it because its trendy and the fashion is popular. im put in a tough position of hating trendy music...but being a huge fan of most metalcore. combining the intensity of hardcore with the music skill and precision of metal, to me is a fucking godsend. but it is becoming a scene of posers and bands that all sound exactly the same. but it is a scene that started in this area and is hugely represented in this area so i guess well all have to deal with it... |
_____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 10:02pm - handinjury ""] Im lost......what is a "BREAK DOWN" ? Im not hip to this lingo, but i think i heard a few last night at the show? |
_____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 10:20pm - anonymous ""] im not sure about this but i remember hearing that the nightmare continues has former members of a band called ishmael, that was essentially a metalcore band. seems a bit hypocritical to be dissing metalcore now eh??? |
_____________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 10:23pm - anonymous ""] breakdowns are exactly what you think they are...the parts where all the kids with tight pants start swinging their arms around and acting like ninjas. and when the band goes chug chugh chug....chug chug chug, guitars following the bass drum, most of the time. |
_________________________________ [Apr 11,2005 10:39pm - yummy ""] i don't think its hypocritical at all seeing as the people dissing metalcore were not in ishmael, essentially. |
