singer/guitarist looks like a cross between Bo and Russian Max, right? Anyone? Looking at YOU ROSS!

Agalloch ruled, although I would have loved to have heard more Mantle/Pale Folklore material. I can't believe how packed this show was. I feel like there wasn't even half as many people at the show in 2005 or whenever it was.

agalloch was everything i thought they'd be. the lead guitar & burning wood stole the show. there were no opening bands.

Wait, are you talking about "The Gathering" from the Netherlands? I can't imagine that you would be, as it would be one of the strangest bills ever, but then again, i don't think i've heard of another gathering.

This show was such a good time! I honestly didn't know what to expect from the openers and I wasnt disappointed. Wasn't crazy about the second band but didn't dislike them. I thought the vocals in Worm Ouroboros sounded kinda like Portishead vocals (which I am a big fan of). The thing that really got me was whatever Agalloch was burning on stage... I have a really strong connection with smells and that smoke instantly transported me back about 15 years to the campground where I spent many summers. It was a good atmosphere all around... definitely set the mood for the music.

yes he is talking about that The Gathering. November's Doom, Agalloch, and The Gathering headlined. i THINK that was like 03/04. pics should be on here.

I saw the gathering play at the mideast the first time I saw Unexpect. What an odd lineup, I think it was just a label thing, similar to what it was in the gathering/agalloch show.

i like worm o, but they're way better on recording than live. i didn't watch their whole set. i missed musk ox because i was in the stupid line to get in.

agalloch was great and i saw some people i never see anymore, so that was fun.

yeah what was up with not opening the doors until 5 minutes before musk ox started?

I was mad I missed the beginning of Musk Ox. Outside of Agalloch, that was the band I wanted to see. Really nice and humble guy too.

Agreed with aril on the clapping. Ya it's a show, lighten up etc, but the clapping during some of the clean parts was definitely cramping my style.

I don't have a problem with applauding a band after a song. But to clap during a song? GTFO DuckDuckGoosers.
They were doing that shit at Opeth's 20th Anniversary show in NYC last April too.

Definitely had a great time last night. While it may not have surpassed the gig back in 2004, Agalloch still put on a hell of a show . Dead Winter Days is one of my favorite tracks from Pale Folklore, so that was probably the highlight of their set.

I've seen it done before at many concerts. But it now it seems the norm for a bunch of padawan metalheads.
Regardless, I don't really care. Awesome show.

what i REALLY hate: @ anything "Jazz-ish" (and i use that term very loosely of course) when people clap and cheer and yell at what they THINK is the end of a solo; when quite frequently it's actually just a sofly played interlude before the crescendo that would complete the soo. . but since everyone yelled and clapped, you can't hear the part that the player probably spent the most time working out.

[Mar 24,2011 3:57pm - dreadkill ""]
there was a lot of that last night, people clapping before a song was over.

bands just need to start speaking out against clapping so we there can be an end to this faggotry.

Starting band called "Surly Pisscup Niggas", you're in it, get used to it.
