To be honest, they're the band I want to see most besides Vital. I have not seen any of these bands live before. I'm gonna get all sorts of cherries popped. |

_____________________________________ [Jan 28,2006 8:08pm - brendannli ""] EVERYONE MUST GO. seriously, do it. i mean come on, vital remains rules. as does grief and sin of angels and i, destroyer and teratism. think about it. vital remains. with grief. and sin of angels. and i, destroyer. and teratism. |
______________________________________ [Jan 28,2006 9:10pm - the_reverend ""] there are an ok # of people here so far. teratism just finished. |
______________________________________ [Jan 28,2006 9:59pm - the_reverend ""] teratism: this time with a real sound set up, I got to hear jay for "real" this time. It sounded really good. I'm glad they jumped on to this after the dee dee's show cancelled. it definely pumped up the death metal levels of this show. DOM sang for most of the first few songs. I can wait to hear a recording with the new line up. unforunately for us, they (and by they I'm guessing its rob) are really hard on them selves and anal musically so we probably won't hear a new single track until a full CD is done and mastered, you bastards. I, Destroyer: I took a picture which I label "contegion not liking I, destroyer". For those of you who don't know, bob was the singer for dropdead (sort of a big deal in punk history). They are like a groovier dropdead. Bob's vocals are pretty unmistakably him. He usually is in the crowd for the whole set, but only were in once this time. I think the typical olnyville crowd was kept away by the $20 pricetag. there is usually a better feel from the audience for them and a hellofalotof thrash dancing from the crowd. I had planned on shooting more songs at the end of their set, but it ended REALLY abruptly. |
______________________________________ [Jan 28,2006 10:04pm - KeithMutiny ""] yea, Ive realised that i dont feel like standing out in the cold with no money for the rest of the night, so i wont be there. too rich for my blood... are we gonna change the name of the venue to the palladium? |
_______________________________________ [Jan 28,2006 10:09pm - the_reverend ""] no, at the palladium, this would have been $12-$15. I'm pretty sure tony (vital) set this all up so he's stressing out about there not being 200 people here. this is still a good turn out for the livingroom. actually, excellent for the livingroom. I would guess there are 100 people here. not that much $ after you pay for glen and the club. |
______________________________________ [Jan 28,2006 10:41pm - KeithMutiny ""] yea, less money would have brought more people, hense making more in the long run. o well. |
_______________________________________ [Jan 28,2006 10:45pm - the_reverend ""] sin of angels: damn, even with just 1 guitar, they lay the dirge down really thick. It's odd that they are a 3 piece still, but it still sounds so good. Soundwise, the kick was loud at first, but other than that, it was perfect. Since their songs are like 9 minutes long, they could only play 4 songs. it's at this point, I would like to make a comment on the ordering of the bands. I think the show should have started 30 minutes later (so more people could get in before it started). And then grief, soa first so people could stand around, get super drunk, headbanging to they slower acts. Then I, destroyer to pump up a drunk crowd. and teratism right before vital so the really drunk crowd can stop drinking and just headbang/fist pump. Finally, vital. I think with the slower bands later, people are going to be not as sober driving home. |
_______________________________________ [Jan 28,2006 11:40pm - the_reverend ""] grief: this is one of probably the best sounding grief sets to date. Everything was perfectly loud enough. I think this actually sounds better than the reunin show at the middle east. The only thing that would make it better is if that guitar player from NY (whos name I forget) was there too. His antics were hilarious. Though, there was a drunk guy heckling them. That was hilarious. This time, they have merch for people so get a shirt from them. |
______________________________________ [Jan 29,2006 1:43am - the_reverend ""] oh and the sound guy messed up with the samples. I destroyer had a sample, but instead the kill almost began. |
_____________________________________ [Jan 29,2006 2:03am - Christraper ""] Just got back. Typing is really difficult at the moment. Boy am i fucked up. I thought everyone played well but i think the soundguy kind of sucked. The bass and kick were way too loud; i could barely hear what they were doing. Hopefully they were able to hear each other on stage. Good time regardless. Anyways im still hallucinating so im gonna go downstairs and watch some silent films. |
__________________________________ [Jan 29,2006 2:04am - brian_dc ""] dammit Jay, I had an eye out for you all night and didn't see you...fucking shorthair |
__________________________________ [Jan 29,2006 2:06am - brian_dc ""] The sound was a bit horrible for Vital, I agree. I also agree with Rev about the order of bands, Teratism/Vital would've been the best way to get a little more energy going into Vital. Bought a Malignancy CD from Dwyer, we had an awkward moment when I didn't know which CD to take....the one from the box or the one he just pulled up from under the table. Awkward...it was cute. |
__________________________________ [Jan 29,2006 2:07am - brian_dc ""] at the end of the day...Vital was fucking awesome (even though I think their fill-in guitarist didn't know exactly what was going on from one part to the next usually) |
__________________________________ [Jan 29,2006 2:26am - brian_dc ""] I forgot...I was disappointed when Glenn announced that he signed on to do the next Vital album. I was really fucking hoping that Anthony was going to get a shot to get on record with them. |
_____________________________________ [Jan 29,2006 2:34am - demon dave ""] The show was great. I thought the order was a little strange too, but I have to admit that I really enjoyed Sin of Angels and Grief. I thought Vital ripped shit up. I was directly in front, and it sounded fine to me. However I was not in the direct path of the Club's speakers. Maybe is sounded like shit everywhere else.... I had a blast. |
___________________________________ [Jan 29,2006 2:49am - contagion ""] vital remains fuckin slayed. and yea, we werent into the sludge at all. it was good for what it was, but i need fast shit. i cant wait to see that picture. and vital had awesome sound if you had ear plugs in, the only bogus aspect was the fact that the subwoofers would kick out every now and again. and glen benton straight up rules, no matter what anyone says. dave suzuki > life. |
______________________________________ [Jan 29,2006 3:03am - the_reverend ""] long ass drive home. fuck you boston for 93 being closed. 10 minutes from home |

_________________________________________ [Jan 29,2006 3:50am - sinofangels-ray ""] That would of been my guess too but figues with everyone coming and going out side and shit from smoking . the final door tally was just over 200 so not a bad night Vital ruled no matter what!!!!! got to give Ralph crdit w/ just 3 days practice and shit was good |

__________________________________________ [Jan 29,2006 8:46am - CarrotsandSticks ""] Good times. I thought everyone was great. I really enjoyed Sin of Angels, it was my first time hearing them. Vital was great. You could definately tell the lead guitarist wasn't comfortable with his parts but I thought he pulled it off fine. Dave is such beast but he really needs to be up front. I need those doubled vocal parts of MIGHT! |
