The front door guy was a fuckin dick! He literally dragged Jeremy out of the club and tossed him on the sidewalk. I asked him why he did that, he said Jere was "a little too rough in the pit." he didn't talk to him or warn him at all, he just grabbed him by the arm and dragged him out. He did it pretty violently too. The guy was a total fuckin pussy when I confronted him too. I really wanted to hit him, it was totally uncalled for. I think they were overwhelmed by the turn out. I only saw 3 guys working the whole place & there was a lot of people in there.

I can't picture Devin pulling Jere out of the show and being a dick about it.

Anyways, it sucks that the BMR guys got kicked out as well. shit.

This show was fun, all the bands sounded awesome.

awesome pics aaron, nice to see you experimenting with your camera (not that you don't ever, but it's more obvious in some of the pics) what are the noisy pics taken in? like ISO80304304? ahahahah

it's my new kodak camera (full frame nikon). I accidentally turned on the digital exposure correction. it sucks that it seems to adjust the exposure up 1-stop over correct exposure. since the images were probably a stop or 2 under exposed, 2 or 3 stops will cause noise.

About that whole kicking people out thing:
WHAT THE FUCK?!
I was in a literal human tug-o-war during Sexcrement.
One of the guys ( not sure of his name, but he did the soun d for us once, nice guy) tried dragging Nick (my singer) out.
There was a struggle for a bit, myself pulling Nick's legs and the crew pulling at his torso, until the "security" gave up. Then some asshole tried to play vigilante trying to toss Nick out. The kid was then laid out by big-man Jason Gibbs, then that dispute was cleared up by Adam putting the kid in a mid-song choke-hold.:doublehorns:

I'm the dick/pussy who dragged the kid out. All I saw was him jumping in and elbowing a few people. Ian grabbed him to talk to him and Ian got elbowed in the face. Ian then grabbed him to throw him out and he kept elbowing and pushing us away, so jumped in and grabbed him by the arms and tossed him out. Why? Because he wouldn't even let us attempt to get him to settle down. Ian even grabbed him a few times to get him to settle down before then. We've all been going to shows for years and we all know the gestures people use to get people to calm down. All of them were ignored. And since you were outside the whole fucking time and only saw me dragging him outside you wouldn't have seen him elbow ian in the face and knock out a lense from his glasses or any of the other bullshit he pulled.

You would have dragged him out aggressively, too if you were getting legs kicked at you and elbows thrown at you for trying to boot someone. I wouldn't go as far as saying I was violent. You should look up the term. And if I let him get on his feet again he'd have just run and been 10x more of a struggle.

and since you taking the effort to call me a pussy, hit your fucking drums instead of using triggers.

I dont know what happened during sexcrement so I can only speak for myself but I was tossed during porphyria to my complete suprise. I apologize if I accidently hit anyone, but I was drunk as hell and suprised at being dragged around out of nowhere. I was not aware there was a "mosh limit" to the place. I think it all could have been avoided if you had mentioned that there was no moshing. I have no hard feelings, I know you were just doing you job. Im sure it looked bad when it happened, hence Jays comments. Secondly, Jay is a sick drummer, and only fucking morons think triggers on bass drums cover playing ability. Double bass that fast is extremely hard to hear without them. Triggers make drum hits audible, they do not make them faster or more complex.
also wanted to say that sexcrement and porphyria killed!!
 _______________________________________
[Sep 14,2006 10:44pm - the_reverend ""]
there is a "no moshing" rule there. but the new management allows it as long as you don't hit the sound board or knock over the speakers. every time I've seen the fanatories at o'breins, they have been out of or near out of control.
IMHO, people should just calm down a little in the pit a bit and watch out for the equipment. just be glad it wasn't like it was a year or two ago. hit the sound board once and you might get kicked out. hit it twice and the sound dude would cut the power pack it up and walk out of the club.

All of the wieght proved too much for our hero and he tumbled to the ground, injurying himself.
As a matter of fact, I saw the Vile One today being escorted by his mother with said huge leg brace.

See the thing is that she was across my shoulder like a sack of potatoes. I got hit or pushed just right on the inside of my left knee, it popped out, then all that brutal weight mixed with a weird pivot and a push from somebody else made me fall the fuck down, and something else popped. luckily i got my knee bandaged up to play the set, hell, i was dancing and playing air guitar for hours back at the space. but i woke up this morning and can't walk on it now.

That sucks Josh. I have severely dislocated my patella before and suffered alot of tissue damage. I was in an immobilizing brace and crutches for a few months and then months of physical therapy.

Good to hear that the doctors didnt find tissue damage.

wow, your calling me a pussy cause I trigger my bass drums? How does that make me a pussy? I've been playing drums for almost 20 years and playing in metal bands for about 13 years. I've been triggering my kicks for the last 6 years. before that I used metal kick pads on the drum heads & mic'd them.......... for 6 or 7 years. So lets do the math here... When I started playing drums, you were 1 year old. when I started my 1st metal band, you were probably 8 years old. When I started using triggers you were probably 15 years old. the few years you spent in school, learning to be an audio engineer, doesn't make you an expert on my playing or drums at all.

I went outside to smoke 2mins before you tossed Jere. I heard the door slam open & turned around & saw Jeremy fly off the door stoop and land on the concrete sidewalk. I saw the look on your face when you did it & I saw him get tossed on the ground, it was violent. I don't need to look up the term. I did not see what he did to get tossed, which is why I asked you what he did. You said: "Well he was a little too rough in the pit, throwing elbows & stuff". I asked, "well did you try to talk to him first?" you said, "I tried to pull him aside but he just kept pulling away." I said, "he was in a pit, don't you think he's gonna naturally pull away when you grab him?" you said nothing. Then I said "he's in the 1st band that played tonight. So you just drag him out and toss him on the sidewalk?" You just shrugged your shoulders. I said thats fucked up & walked away. What you said to me that night is nothing close to what you said in this thread, as far as what Jere did to get kicked out. Jeremy even said he was completely surprised at being dragged out. I'm not doubting that he was out of line in the pit. But the way he was thrown on the sidewalk was fucking wrong & I'm not the only one who saw it or feels that way about it. I understand that you were just doing your job. But you should understand that when I see my good friend/guitarist get thrown on the ground, my 1st reaction would be to kick your ass.
There was a kid who was way outta line in the pit the whole night. so outta line the the singer of the band on stage had to straighten him out. But he wasn't kicked out at all. You might want to put up a sign that notifies your patrons of your twisted mosh rules, since very few people knew there was any. While your at it put a sign that says "no triggers allowed".

It's the same argument people always use against any sort of synthetic or electronic music. Ignore it. Triggers are a fact of life in extreme metal.

the only thing triggers really do is allow you to keep the the hits consistent when playing fast, they don't instantly make you faster, you have to be fast on your own.

I agree with DHTH, triggers ARE a fact of life in extreme metal.

actually there are plenty of great death metal drummers that don't use triggers, why? because they sound like shit.

for clubs with shitty systems, they're the best alternative though.

brendan said:yo, i actually do'nt know what drum triggers are, can anyone explain it?

A trigger is a device that usually clamps on to a drum (acoustical triggers). You plug in a 1/4" instrument cable to it & plug the other end into a trigger module or brain. The module/brain has stored drum sounds (usually 1000's), which you assign to each trigger. So in theory, when you hit the drum, it triggers the module to produce the sound you've assigned to it. There's a lot of adjustment & calibration involved to prevent mis or multiple triggering, or triggerring from other vibrations around the drums.
I'm using mechanical triggers on my kicks. They're made by Axis Percussion & mount on Axis Pedals. Instead of triggering off the drum head, they trigger off the pedal. there is a secondary mini beater that mounts on the pedal axle & a trigger box that mounts below it. You allign the mini beater to hit the trigger @ the same time the pedal beater hits the head. It's way more accurate & much less likely to mis-trigger.

Basically it's electronic drums w/ triggers instead of electronic pads.

It can't make you sound faster. Maybe if you could get it to mis trigger just right you could. but the argument is that you get a clear defined sound instead of doing it with the sound of the drum. Which is a retarded argument.

I think that fear factory has use live trigged drums that click off 3 beats per trigger hit. atleast that's what I was told when they played in 97-98 at the palladium with slayer.

the argument is that you can basically hardly hit your drums and it sounds like you're hitting them normally, meaning you can sound super fast just by tapping on them.

If I weren't triggering my kicks, I wouldn't be hitting any harder than when they are triggered. The bottom line is, don't make an ignorant comment when you can't see how hard I'm hitting the drum. Especially if your not even in the room.
