___________________________________________ [Oct 23,2006 8:20pm - EULOGY XL (Robb) ""] Just for the record: 1. We got added to the Decapitated show at the last minute as an opener because a friend of one of the booking agents at Mark's was having a going away party at Mark's that night and we were one of his favorite bands. We didn't try to get on this show. We were kind of pushed onto it. I honestly had never heard of any of the bands we played with that night. 2. I don't know if we are necessarily nu-metal? Our roots are actually in electronica and industrial and it's only recently that we've become more guitar-heavy. Kind of in the the same way that Porcupine Tree has evolved to what they are today. It's only the past few years I've gotten into Metal groups like Opeth, Katatonia, Amorphis and Novembre. Before that is was NIN, Massive Attack, and the Prodigy and our music was more electronic than metal. I dunno if that makes us Nu-metal or not but I never thought so? I think we have our own sound. |

I'll agree with that. unfortunately the sound you guys had wasn't what the majority of this board is fond of. I didn't think you guys were bad, your drummer has some really good chops, and the electronica samples were pretty cool. Your music isn't really my thing, but I can't knock you for being good at what you do. everyone has an opinion, and everyone thinks theirs is right. personally, if someone hates a band, don't go see them, like I wasn't into Moonspell, and after 3 songs, I went to look at titties, if someone didn't like EXL of Frozen, they could have gone to look at tits too... |

____________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 1:22am - wolfheart ""] I'm glad you folks who don't like Moonspell left after Katatonia. It was nice to see them without all the little kids about. I guess you youngins who like all that nu-metal, emo-metal stuff can't hang. It's really not your fault, MTV tells you to like nu-metal, and you do what MTV says. |

_____________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 3:32am - AUTOPSY_666 ""] They went downhill after Under The Moonspell, just got gayer and gayer. |
_____________________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 6:43am - DrinkHardThrashHard ""] I enjoy Moonspell, I do not feel they went downhill at all, they just went and did something different. Good for them. Fernando is a great lyricist and a very intelligent guy all around. His voice is goofy, but I mean...that's goth rock. And they are as much goth rock (ala Sisters of Mercy) as they are metal. They are also subtle, which I like. I find a lot on their records that I didn't hear the first few spins. Most of their albums are significantly better than Under the Moonspell, which is like four songs and some intros (and just as goofy if not more goofy than their later material). Live, they are hit or miss. I've seen them a few times with a small audience who was into them and they really fed off that and were great. Then I've seen them other times, at gigs where they didn't belong, with a thousand screaming ADD kids who just wanted to mosh. Obviously not their scene, so I don't know why they go out of their way to get on every tour they can. Katatonia should have headlined this tour, they are more popular here. |

Why wasn't this pointed out to me? And yeah, I don't like Moonspell because I'm nu-metal. Thanks for the insight, Sally. |
___________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 9:30am - dreadkill ""] yeah, my dad was there too. they both made it onto rttp in a picture. also, i love all that awesome nu-metal stuff like dio, motorhead, and iron maiden. queensryche too, no wait, they're metalcore, right? |
_____________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 11:27am - wolfheart ""] Ha Ha Ha... yeah, Motorhead, Dio, and Iron Maiden kick ass- I love them! But that's the point, you kids poke fun at Moonspell, but are they any more goofy than those bands have been in the past? I mean, didn't Motorhead put out a few bad albums? I completely love Maiden, but take a look at the Blaise years. come on! Moonspell tried a few different things (it's called creativity) and they are better now because of it. The new album is excellent, and if you don't like them without hearing their new stuff, it's your loss. |
___________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 11:32am - sinistas ""] That's all fine and good, but don't troll with the 'real metal' crap because some people dislike them. |
____________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 11:35am - dreadkill ""] i haven't heard the new moonspell album. i've heard songs from most of their albums. i like a couple here and there from older albums, but can't find anything to like on newer albums. it just doesn't do it for me. |
_______________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 12:03pm - the_reverend ""] I don't really like moonspell either.. wolfheart was their best. |
_____________________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 4:57pm - DrinkHardThrashHard ""] Heh. He should have just let me stick up for Moonspell, I made a much better case without needing to insult other peoples' tastes. Wolfheart is one of their best, but Butterfly Effect will always be my favorite. Great songs (even though it's mostly non-metal), great lyrics, great atmosphere. |
_____________________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 5:01pm - DrinkHardThrashHard ""] dreadkill said:i haven't heard the new moonspell album. i've heard songs from most of their albums. i like a couple here and there from older albums, but can't find anything to like on newer albums. it just doesn't do it for me. The newer records are actually pretty good. The Antidote is fascinating. The thing is, they are deceptively basic, but when you listen on they become extremely catchy. I think you of all people would actually dig them. |
___________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 5:05pm - dreadkill ""] maybe i'll check out more of the newer stuff and see if it changes my mind about moonspell. |
_____________________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 5:09pm - DrinkHardThrashHard ""] Cool, the last two "The Antidote" and "Memorial" are quite good. "Darkness and Hope" had a few good tunes, and for the older stuff, "Butterfly Effect", "Irreligious" and "Wolfheart" were all fantastic. "Sin/Pecado" was meh. "Under the Moonspell" was cool but it was only an EP. |
_________________________________________ [Oct 24,2006 5:37pm - DreamingInExile ""] Irreligious and Wolfheart are the 2 albums from them that I rather enjoy, it was good to hear them play Opium and Wolfshade back to back. |
________________________________ [Oct 25,2006 2:50pm - retzam ""] Darn, I wish I had gone. Opium and Wolfshade are probably my two favorite Moonspell songs. And I'm still sad that I missed Katatonia. |
