I'm paying the same on Verizon...UZ GETN ROBBED

anyways, the apps I use pretty much all the time:

1) Advanced Task Killer
2) Jewels (same thing as Bejeweled)
3) Fantasy Guru (for Yahoo Fantasy Football)
4) WordUp! (same thing as Boggle)
5) XiiaLive (finds most online radio streams, including some satellite radio streams)
6) WEEI Live (even though this app sucks - once you try to do something else, the app lets go of the stream)
7) Engadget (the widget is awesome)
8) ESPN ScoreCenter
9) HomePipe (access files off of your PCs)
10) DropBox
11) RSS WidgetBoard (amkes widgets of any RSS feed you want)
12) Air Horn (a must)
13) LED Light (create a widget that you click on to turn the LED on or off to use as a flashlight)
14) NFL Mobile (live, streaming NFL Network, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?)
15) last.fm (syncs with your last.fm account, and the widget will play your station with one click)

[Aug 31,2010 1:47pm - the_reverend ""]
wow... dropbox is the only one there that I want. though I will probably install engadget and see what homepipe is.

I'm also probably going to get the $4.99 sprite app to autoback up in the mornings.

The EEI thing is the same for iPhone. Can't do run in the background. It did when it first debuted( if I remember correctly) but since the updates, it now has to run on it's own. It's also on a delay from the radio station(yeah, I'm nerdy like that)

on Android, it initially would not show that it was running on the top bar, but now it does....but if you press the back button instead of the home button to get out of it the stream gets killed altogether....so annoying

On my rooted droidX

1)Titanium Backup (can freeze the bloatware apps from running, backup all apps and move to sd card)
2)Launcher Pro + Home Switcher (better than the stock droidX UI and seems faster)
3)Metal Archives
4)Nesoid (nes emulator)
5)robodefense
6)pandora
7)shopsavy (shopping/barcode scanner, can be used to scan barcodes and download apps on appbrain.com)
8)Car Dock (replaces the stock cardock app, lets you pick which applications you want on the screen when docked)
9)Uninstaller (quickly remove apps)

The Log me in app looks useful but I don't feel like paying $30 for it.

I've had my Droid X for like 4 days now. Aside from the usual shit that everybody downloads I've been using:

eBuddy (downloaded a few AIM apps to test, still checking this one out)
Notes (so's I can writes shit down)
Advanced Task Killer
Google Voice
WYSE (RDP / terminal server client)

I've just began to screw with this thing. I've read about Astro file manager though, that's coming next. Along with a backup app of some sort.

I need a replacement calendar. The stock one sucks. I'm guessing it's a motorola app that's specific to the droid x. Haven't looked into it yet aside from doing a brief search for a calendar app on the marketplace. Anybody have any suggestions?

Also,

Gstrings tuner
Mobile Metronome
Easy Note
Photobucket
express news (better than the built in news widget, imo)
Easy Tether (free usb tethering)
Mojo Nes (NES emulator - $1)
Amazon Kindle (free kindle reader)
Pandora

I think that's all the good ones I can think of.

14) Opera Mini - this is THE best browser for text.rttp. all the other browsers suck cause of zooming. The one problem with Opera Mini is the clicking of the "Qik Reply" button.

What are essential apps should I start with?

What is it absolutely essential for someone retarded with electronics but likes spiffy shit? (because a list of names means little to me)

ritesh sahu or something like that is the backup & restore programmer.

the best thing is that the language used to program the apps in is the same basic language ive been developing in for 15 years. so im going to start developing when i get som free time.

ok, there is no centralized "notifications and sounds" area... you have to go into each app and set it up for each app.

GOOGLE MAPS IS PRETTY AWESOME.

I JUST FOUND A COOL NEW ONE CALLED BARCODE SCANNER. IT'S GREAT, I CAN GO TO BEST BUY AND SCAN THEIR OVERPRICED SHIT AND IT GIVES ME A WEBPAGE WITH BULLSHIT REVIEWS TO CONVINCE ME TO BUY IT ANYWAY.

BACK IN THE DAY, THEY NEEDED TO HIRE SALESMEN TO BLOW SMOKE UP MY ASS AND TREAT ME LIKE A RETARD. NOW THEY MAKE MY PHONE DO ALL THE WORK FOR THEM.
