Current playlist?[views:8058][posts:58]_____________________________________________ [Sep 29,2009 2:42pm - dontlivefastjustdie ""] yeah i dl'd the leak as well and REALLY enjoy it...been pretty much all ive listened to lately, just curious as to someone elses opinion. i pretty much agree with everything you said actually. the acoustic bit def threw me off at first also but honestly i find myself singing that in my head more than almost any other part on the album. i must say i like the drumming slightly less on this album (though its still solid as shit and is perfect for the songs) compared to the red album. i think a lot of the albums more "rock" vibe stems from the much more straightforward drumming style he uses. still sounds great just seems a bit less intricate than the red album |

I've been walking around with a couple of the songs stuck in my head. Very catchy tunes, and I like that they've developed into better singers. I can't say I like the drumming any less, but I did notice that he toned it down a bit for this one. He's an incredible drummer. Always in the pocket, even when he's doing crazy shit. Hell of a nice guy too. They played at the venue where I do live sound last year, and I got to hang out with him a bit after their set. |
| _____________________________________________ [Sep 29,2009 2:57pm - dontlivefastjustdie ""] yeah, the harmonized vocals are really great, they def went out of their comfort zone as far as hitting higher notes and more complex vocal melodies and did so without losing the grit and emotion in the vocals (*cough*mastodon*cough*) i hadnt really listened to Baroness much before my band opened for them a couple years ago but i was totally blown away watching their set. really phenominal band, especially live. |

Had a similar experience. I had never heard them prior to that aforementioned show at Valentines, and my mind was thoroughly blown when they played. Me and their touring sound guy were literally rocking out behind the board. It was awesome. Since then, they've become one of my favorite bands. What's your band? |
| _____________________________________________ [Sep 29,2009 3:17pm - dontlivefastjustdie ""] one of my favs as well. their discography gets at least a couple plays a week for me. my band is Spewtilator. atlanta based thrash/grind type stuff myspace.com/spewtilator all our stuff is fast except for one song that has a real slow doom/sludge intro...so we thought it would be funny to open our set with it considering who we were opening for. after our set john baizley came up and was like "man, when you guys started i thought you were gonna be another shitty sludge band but then...BAM, it was all awesome thrashing and death metal!" Super nice guy, as were all the guys in the band. Def felt good to hear that he was stoked on it. |
