He would sit in his car and just listen to the game...for hours...so much I get headaches now if I even hear the radio announcements for a little bit. People stood behind this team, hoping they would make a comback for something like 86 years. And nothing ever happened. The failure went on for so long, and it was strange cause no matter how far the Sox came and no matter how well they played, that was the end of the winning streak when it came to the world series...for nearly 9 decades. So for anyone that has that level of family, emotional, or pride investment, this is the big payoff. I'm not a baseball fan, but not only did I watch the game, I am actually excited that this team won. There's guys and gals who are on their death beds that are crying right now because the old expression, "Sure I'll do it... When the red sox win the world series!" is now, well, time to pay up. And yeah, sports and things aren't the biggest issue the world does have to face. But for right now, I say let these dudes have their moment in the sun...it's not easy to win a world series, especially when you've fucked it up that many times. You feel like a failure when you lose that much, but to overcome that gives people hope...hope that if I fuck up 86 times, I can still make things right. Hope that clarifies it more :D |

I sat there and chatted with a dude old enough to be my grandfather for a good 10 minutes just because he was going to buy a Curt Schilling shirt and I said he was a good man.
