SIBERIA: i havent used axis pedals before but from what i know they are probably the quickest reaction pedals on the market, theyre also pretty expensive

Bro if you are going to play death metal/grind or anything really for that matter these are the pedals to get. I've been playing these for the past 4 years and wish I had found them sooner. Once you learn the techniques and tricks of the pedals your options are limitless. Well worth the money spent . In time you will see that if you buy them.:NEWHORNS:

the only double bass pedals i've ever heard any of the greats talk about (like Derek Roddy) are the Axis pedals, namely the Longboard. and shit, if Derek Roddy uses it, it must be good

He only started using the longboards lately. I played a show with hateeternal a couple of years ago and he was still using the same pedals he had bought in 1992. The original axis. I know this because he was very proud of them lasting as long as they did.

Why don' t you like triggers? Let me guess, you are one of those skeptics who thinks it doesn't take much to play with triggers. If not please explain so I may be clear.

If you won't exercises to do you should check out some drum sites that will help tremendously. Jumping rope is excellent for double bass. Also wear leg weights for your own personnal practice time an then take them off for band practice. Heel up and down exercises while sitting at work are great to do as well. Your options are limitless, you just have to practice, practice, practice. That is the most important part.:NEWHORNS:

a drum trigger merely makes the drum beat sound better. take the bass drum for example. if you are doing fast double bass, and the drum is only miked, the sound coming through the PA will sound muddy, because it's only picking up alot of air being pushed through. hook up a trigger to the drum, and you get a processed beat every time. this will make ever drum hit discernible and sound good. triggers can't be used to make u sound faster than you really are going. they are hooked up onto the drum.

Do you use triggers at all? I've got an AlesisDm5 and I only trigger the bass drums. I beleive that if you know how to tune your toms correctly you shouldn't have to be a trigger whore like some that are out there. But it is also a preference issue too, some do and some don't.

That is the pedal that allows you to do d.b. with just one foot right? It is not worth the money bro. Don't get it isn't worth it at all. If you are interested in doing db, while utilizing the hi-hat, mapex makes a db pedal that connects to the hi-hat while you play db. It is alright to but to me there is nothing like the feel of 2 bass drums.

Triggers are actually pretty damn cool. I saw Primus when they came around last year and Tim Alexander rocked the triggers like you wouldn't believe. As for metal, I was under the impression that some drummers use triggers on their kick drum as double hits. Uhhh, to be more clear, 1 kick being 2 hits... uhhh. Yeah. Irregardless, I really have no idea what I'm talking about.

you could program a drum machine to do 2 hits for every one beat. its just like programming a delay effect.

and sonar makes a pedal like the dualist called the Giant Step- they have the standard dbl bass setup but they have a dualist setup too and i heard it is fast as fuck- in fact i think sonar giant step pedals won best new drum gear award

but u have to take into consideration, what about parts of the songs where it's only one bass drum hit at a time? it's impossible to have a trigger do that and then do double hits when u need it to. unless you had like a tech in the back to do it for you. but if you have to go through that amount of work, just find a drummer that can pull it off for real.
