I used to hate emgs when I played my Blackmore, Fireball, and Powerball.. however now that I use a 5150 I love the EMGs. I love them so much that I just sold my ESP M-II with passives because the RG550 is my new main guitar.

To each his own, really. I won't replace the pickups in this guitar for sure.

In my opinion, active pickups sound better. But that's all for bass. Guitars don't really matter to me as much because all I really do is play in my room.

the 60 is easily the best emg out there. SUPER underrated and easily
the most versatile. of course this is nothing but semantics to you anti-emg doods.
an 81 is was way to harsh imo for a bridge pu. if it wasnt 'cutting the mustard' its because your axe is prob made of super young, and probobly mank ass wood (swamp ass / basswood.)...

I like the EMG 60 -- I have one in the bridge position in my Ibanhad. It's warmer and not as brash sounding as the 81 -- though I like the nastiness of the 81 as well.

The 60, at least in my LTD, paled in comparison to the 81 in terms of tone. When I played the LTD with the 60 in it, notes sounded like they were missing or too subtle all over the place and sounded a bit too dry; it also did not pick up the attack I was giving the strings, essential for proper slamming. As soon as I started playing Eliot's Schecter (which is now my Schecter) with an 81 I realized how much of a difference there is. Now that there's an 81 in the LTD, the sound is nearly identical to the Schecter.

If you want I'll still measure my dick for you. :*

When I read the subject for this thread, I thought, "I bet this will be a BC Rich." Then I laughed.

Why would you want two guitars that sound identical? What's the point in having two guitars then?

Well, they're not completely identical, plus they both feel different. The main reason to have both though is that I need a back up, since I break tons of strings. And, eventually I'm going to need 2 guitars both tuned differently (1 for Composted and 1 for The Body Farm).

Backup guitars are for dudes who utilize their phalloi inside various orifices of females in a sexual manner.
