dont buy a saturn no matter what.

[Apr 6,2005 1:20pm - the_reverend ""]
your opinion is now meaningless
since my current saturn was $5K, I put 185K+ miles on it myself and only put in $1K worth of work over 5 years.

that's over 30 miles per dollar.

aaron, i'm begging you with all of my being...for the safety of yourself and all those you love, please don't even entertain the idea of buying a saturn. i know 4 or 5 people that have (or had) them and they are the definition of shit box. the entire body is made of "dent resistant" PLASTIC...its like a rubbermaid on wheels. gas mileage yes, but hit a twig in the road going 3 miles and hour and you'll be sliding down the road on the frame of your seat wondering what the hell just happened.

if my opinion is meaningless...then y are you asking peoples opinions....just the ones you wanna hear?
Im glad you had such good luck with your saturn, but consider yourself graced with good luck, because Ive known 6 different people with saturns, and they ALL had probs. Like big probs, not windshelid wipers. Like trannies, motor mounts, linkage...stuff llike that.

and....gas mileage they adverstise is no where near what u actually get.
Especially in new england.

what years were these saturns?
my guy's a 95. it seems like after 96, they sucked balls.

[Apr 6,2005 1:48pm - powerkok ""]
Im pretty sure they were all after 97 with one exception, and that was a 96. But the 96 was the one that needed a new tranny after 55k

yeah, that's why I didn't want to get a newer saturn. they replaced the plastic bodies with metal... replaced the 1.7l SOHC engine with a 1.9l DOHC turning the 40 mpg to 27-32 mpg.
when I first got my saturn it would do 41mpg and now with 225K on it does 33 in the winter 35 in the summer.

I decided on my next ride. I am getting a 2005 Honda Pilot. Killer vehicle and I need the room and the towing capacity.

ps: a civic will be my first non-US car
94-98 Ford Tempo 85 model 2DR
98-00 Buick Regal 77 2DR
00-05 Saturn SL1 94 4DR

all american.

im buying myself a 1990 dodge ramcharger next week, much like the one i have now, and while i still am driving my current driver, i'll be on the hunt for a 5.9L cummins turbo diesel engine to drop in. i can then do a biodiesel project with that. they get about 18mpg hwy, around 250 horsepwr, and it'll smell like french fries or hash browns when i run it on the bio fuel. its really not that hard to make biodiesel and the benifits will be great when the petrol industry crashes and im still blowing by assholes on bikes and battery cars in a full size beast

I'm almost 100% on the civic hybrid.

I would look into a bio-deisel WV, but only gay guys drive them.

[Apr 6,2005 5:03pm - humanbonedeathmachine  ""]
yeah, i like the concept of biodiesel, but i hear ya on the gay guys thing (so a civic is less gay?). i also like to go faster than 60 so no VW's for me.

is there any other diesel owners here? we should start a biodiesel club/collective. we can scour new england for all its grease so we will own it all. so only RTTP bands with diesel vehicles will still be active here once the petroleum industry bites it

You get that 5.9 Cummins and you can bring that 250hp to 500+hp fairly cheap.

Nice you can put a red R on that civic and get 30 extra horsepower, if you bought the corolla the R would only get you like 10 hp.

you need the official rttp monster truck, to help ruin hardcore shows, you can drive right through the doors, i bet thats more distracting than a flash

[Apr 7,2005 11:59am - BobNOMAAMRooney nli  ""]
Then you could repair hardcore by revving the engine to tune of a hatebreed breakdown

well civic hibrid is good gas milage but battery only has a 8 or so year warranty, and by that time the depreciation and the battery's tendancy to self destruct shortly after will cause you to be without a vehicle because it would be more expensive to replace the battery than the car almost, thats the only thing honda hasnt really got down yet. not saying go for the carolla but just sumthing to think about

in like 14 days, I believe this car will be 100% property of me. w00t!

it already has over 133K on it. Honda and Toyota have yet to have a car after the initial few miles need a new set of batteries. They've even tracks some cards over 250K.

go with the civic. hondas are always the best on gas and last the longest. i just bought an 04 regular civic that does almost 38 miles a gallon on the highway. going from a grand cherokee with a v8 to the civic within the past 2 months = cav doesn't really give a shit about the gas prices
