ATTN: anyone from the 80's, 90's, or present day who think Venom couldn't play their instruments[views:6714][posts:95]___________________________________ [Dec 17,2004 10:20am - litacore ""] hahaha, you're ... well, um ... WRONG I've been trying to tab the solo to "Don't Burn the Witch" past midnight when I got back from practice. HA!--if they had no talent then YOU try and play that run from 2:45 to 2:50 goddammit, this is gonna take me a long time. Worth it. :whipper: |
_____________________________________ [Dec 17,2004 10:23am - paganmegan ""] Did you use that tascam to slow stuff down? |
______________________________________ [Dec 17,2004 10:25am - Christraper ""] Mantas is a badass guitar player. Definitely a big influence on me. |

_____________________________________ [Dec 17,2004 10:30am - paganmegan ""] Yup yup. I should note for note learn the solo for ripping corpse instead of improvising it.. How much did you pay for that tascam ? I should get me one of those, it would help alot in such endeavors |
______________________________________ [Dec 17,2004 10:30am - Josh_Martin ""] Mantas was pretty damn good. Cronos however..... He was no Jaco. Fit Venom perfectly. Check out the total complete mess of a bass line in Acid Queen. Fucking awesome! I love Venom. |

Tascam CD-GT1 and Tascam PSPS5 Power Supply for CDGT1 (you have to get the power supply for $20 which is gay, but trust me you don't want to be running it on batteries, you'll be refilling it every couple of hours) |
______________________________________ [Dec 17,2004 10:38am - Christraper ""] im pretty sure Mille went with the old "Play as fast as you possibly can and stay more or less in key" trick used time and time again by Slayer, Bathory, etc. Id be suprised if Mille even knew exactly what he played back in the studio. |

Yeah, thats why I don't feel too bad about improvising (play fast and sticking mostly to a key) but still I don't want to half ass anything when it comes to music. |

__________________________________________ [Dec 17,2004 3:45pm - BestialOnslaught ""] Cronos was a good bassist! Just watch the '84/'85 Hammersmith vids! Nothing technically impressive, but tight, fluid bass lines that really helped provide a backbone for Mantas' riffing. I did hear that Mantas did the bass parts on the early studio shit, but I dunno how much truth there is to that. I think Abaddon was the only shitty musician in VENOM, but even so, he was pretty tight live; a lot of his playing just sounds awkward, but it wouldn't be VENOM without that! |

My band was a three piece for a long ass time and i wouldve been screwed if our bass player couldnt hack it. |
