_________________________________ [May 26,2009 10:21am - xmikex ""] A couple things before I get started.... Fire the Sky was a serious win. It will never get the recognition it deserves because A. it was a topical subject and the result of the mid 90's ufo fascination and B. no one will pay attention to a story without a love interest in it. It's probably one of the most visceral films I've seen to date. T2 was flawless. Plot, FX, characters, action, all of it. Anyone who criticized it in 1991 is a cynical faggot who wanted Meatballs II to the be the be all end all of special effects in film. NOW... There are some definite holes in this film. And I'll be the first to admit that the "Blair and Marcus" (DayZ of oUr LiVzorz) love drama, albeit short lived, was awful. But I really think that after the shitstorm Hollywood saw from the T3 feedback this was their way of saying "Hey, look. You know as as well as we do that we have to fag this up a little to make it marketable, but we're at least gonna try this time." And try, IMO, they did. I thought Bale was fucking balls as John Connor (JC... salvation... undertone anyone?). I liked him a hell of a lot better than Marcus the hunky robot, a and hell of a lot better than that TGIF looking dork they cast in T3. The sound desgin is what really impressed me about this film. Take the giant people snatching terminators. If this wasn't a Terminator series then they just would have sounded like Wall-E shifted down a couple octaves. I loved the sound that they came up with for those things, that weird muted out of tune diesel moan. There are a handful of things big and small that I have issues with in this movie, but I'll accept this as part of the Terminator series. As far as I'm concerned THIS is Terminator 3, and the last one never happened. And anyone who didn't get pumped when Connor blasts You Could Be Mine to trap the moto-terminator is an asshole. Solid tribute to the greatest action film of all time. |
____________________________________________________ [May 27,2009 8:34am - menstrual_sweatpants_disco ""] Saw it. Liked it. I too noticed that the sound effects in this movie were awesome. Those giant people snatcher terminators were awesome. |
_________________________________ [May 27,2009 8:40am - RustyPS ""] it wasn't bad IMO...I kept on dozing off because I was exhausted, but I thought it was solid I don't think you can reasonably expected it to be anywhere close to T2 |

________________________________ [May 28,2009 11:32am - rbss ""] This shit was awesome. Obviously wasn't perfect, but it still ruled. I've been waiting for a post-apocalyptic Terminator movie ever since they showed snippets of Judgment Day in T2 and I got exactly what I wanted - A bad-ass, high-tech robot/human war movie. |
_____________________________________ [May 28,2009 11:38am - arilliusbm ""] Same here. When they showed a glimpse of the human/robot war in T2 I've been waiting to see a movie like that the whole time. |

_____________________________________________________ [May 28,2009 11:53am - menstrual_sweatpants_disco ""] rbss said:I've been waiting for a post-apocalyptic Terminator movie ever since they showed snippets of Judgment Day in T2 and I got exactly what I wanted - A bad-ass, high-tech robot/human war movie. ahhhh well put. This is a good part of why I liked this movie. This is also a big part of why the matrix movies are awesome. Watching the hunter/killers fly around fucking shit up is awesome. I always loved the little future glimpses of those in the old terminator movies. |
____________________________________________ [May 28,2009 11:54am - mikeofdecrepitude ""] Wait, so because it remains the highest grossing film means that it was quality, and that most people actually appreciate good films? Haha. I wouldn't put it past Cameron to pull a George Lucas. I personally wouldn't put any faith into to him, to come through with a better Terminator. |
____________________________________________ [May 28,2009 12:01pm - mikeofdecrepitude ""] Plus, he did Aliens, which wasn't nearly as grim as Ridley Scott's Alien. |
_____________________________________ [May 28,2009 12:53pm - arilliusbm ""] haha, I know what you're saying. Cameron is a hit-or-miss most of the time. But he's got potential to make a good story into a better story. But yea, Aliens was an 80s action flick rather than a horror/suspense/sci fi thriller like the 1st. |
___________________________________________ [May 28,2009 2:20pm - mikeofdecrepitude ""] I must say I'm pretty excited to see where Cameron takes his pursuit of making 3D films. |
____________________________________ [May 28,2009 2:26pm - arilliusbm ""] We need to see more 1st person films. I think that'd be interesting to say the least. You wouldn't know what the main character looks like until you see yourself in the mirror. A Total Recall but actually being Arnold. The 1st person scene in DOOM sucked so bad. fucking horrible. |
___________________________________________ [May 28,2009 2:35pm - mikeofdecrepitude ""] Speaking of Total Recall, what the hell happened to Paul Verhoeven? He used to direct great movies and then suddenly declined. |

He plays the titular character in Bully and goes around raping girls, spousal abusing Brad Renfro, forcing dudes to make dildo play movies and generally being a giant asshole who ends up getting murdered by everyone he's a dick to. The problem is that he's played by that fucking TGIF looking dork from T3 so the entire movie's ruined. |
____________________________________________________ [May 28,2009 6:25pm - menstrual_sweatpants_disco ""] I thought he did a good job in T3. He fit pretty well, for what John Connor's character was at the time. And he may be a TGIF looking dork to you guys, but to me he's Ben Hawkins from Carnivale, and he'll fuck your shit up. |

___________________________________________ [May 31,2009 7:31pm - FuckIsMySignature ""] well finally saw the movie. not impressed. action was great, effects were cool (especially in a digital theater) but the story seemed so sloppy. everyone either overacted or underacted to the point of absurdity. the dialague was the worst though.. pretty much went as follows: "I'm John Connor" "Save Kyle Reese" "I'm John Connor" "I'm Kyle Reese.. Come with you me if you want to live.." Blah blah blah "BUT I'M JOHN CONNOR!!!... and I'll be back" oh and Christian Bale did the whole movie with his irritating Dark Knight grumble voice. I kept hoping that the Joker would pop into the scene to make it more exciting. THE END. |
_____________________________________ [Jun 15,2009 10:11am - arilliusbm ""] finally gave in and saw this. to my surprise, it was a watchable movie to say the least. best terminator in the series? hell no. better than terminator 3? yes. action was great.. non-stop action throughout the whole movie. Dialogue was pretty lame at parts, acting was pretty lame at parts too (mostly christian bale... does he play the same character in every movie) but I'll accept it was a follow-up movie. There were many similarities between T2, especially the "come with me if you want to live" and how the movie ends in a very similar setting as T2. Also liked how the movie was darker than 3. |

I was just thinking that. Nobody will probably ever try it again because that movie was a joke. A joke of a movie staring the Rock? SHOCKING! Sorry dude but every movie you star in is not an excuse to have fight scenes for you to demonstrate your awesome wrestling moves you fucking loser. DIE! Goes back to what aril was saying about needing a decent action star these days. Haven't seen T4 yet. T3 had some good parts but didn't have the same "dark" feel that T1 and T2 had. For example in T2 the scene where the T1000 stabs John's foster dad through the milk carton and through his head was pretty brutal. You don't see it happen but you get to see the after effects. Or where he stabs the guard through the eye and his body just twitches until he drops to the floor. T1 and T2 were far more graphic which added a lot to the "no hope/down and out" feel to the movies. In T3 the killing was very watered down. The story was decent. I liked the idea of Skynet being a bit more modern to fit with the times, but the acting was just terrible. |
