I had a really good time last night, so I might go again. All the guys in the bands were really friendly. Krisiun even offered to put me on their guest list for tonight.

If the crowd is as bad as last night, I'll be pissed. Too much talent to play to bands and a fist full of friends.

Does Mark run radio ads for there shows? If not, they better start doing it.There not gonna make any money if they continue to draw a poor crowd. If the other half wernt a strip club they would have closed down a long time ago.I hope Chris Barnes isnt to stoned tonight so he can remember the lyrics to the songs.

I still can't believe I watched Decapatated & Krisiun play to an audience of less than 20 people, last night.

The sound in that place is fucking awesome!

[Oct 7,2006 6:53pm - the_reverend ""]
Afar: they kind of had the early emperor sound going on with them. There were like 20 people here watching them. Most of whom were taking pictures. From the moment I got in there, I don't think they stopped at all. There was like one pause between two songs where the singer said who they were and where they were from and that's about it. I thought the basslines were a little bit simple and the guitar was too soft. The bass seemed to be on top of the guitars and the drums in the mix.

heretic hybrid: the crowd grew a little for them. I had seen these guy once before and went to see them a couple other times, but either missed them or they missed the show. They play heavey metal with some dm parts and some singing parts that remind me more of some fear factory singing. the DM was more from the music and not the vocals. Sort of think of trauma concept. they are playing the milly's show for that baby with cancer on oct 14th. so far all the bands have gotten really ample set times.

mortis deveia: this is the first band (imho) that had the sound set up right for them from the start. Cool considering that they have two guitar shredders on stage, the singer's vocals have gotten even better than the last time I saw them. They played a couple new songs. I think it was on of the new songs that had a cool part with each guitarist playing a different solo at the same time. some day I'll catch one of their shows where people are allowed to mosh.

downfall: the front was packed in (40+ people) during their set. I found it was getting hard to get around the front. Then one of the little kids who follow downfall passed out and jeff(godless rising) carried him out. Everyone ran to crowd around him, leaving the front open and free for me! Attn everyone: if there is a person passed out, don't crowd around them. Give them air and space. I don't know what happend to him, but the front didn't fill up again like it was at the beginning. All the people in thr front did grab on to the railing and head bang so feverously that they violently rattled the barricade. And sort of threw some people off of it. During the last song, the people shaking the barricade got yelled at.

Decomformity: this show seems like it's been so freaking long already that it's hard to believe that the show is 1/2 over at the end of their set. Seeing them on this stage is bringing back wicked deja vu. I'm guessing that there are probably 100+ people watching their set. By the end, they played really well and talked a lot about the new CD. Some of their guitar work (not sure if it was on old or new tracks) reminded me of old in flames. I'm wondering if they are going to have the largest crowd for them or not. Guess we'll see.

zircon: I would guess that zircon had the same # of people adeconformity. The only difference is that more people packed close to the front for the unrelenting wall of blackdeathness. To me it sounds like hate eternal covering enslaved songs. I have a feeling that chris sped up his headbanging after I made the molases joke. I'm probably just jealous of someone who has hair.
*sniff*
for their last song, chris joined scott with vocal duties.

abysmal dawn: they guys were pretty sick. they fit in with decapitated very well. I thought they sounded like a bridge between decapitated and vader. The singer even projected himself like peter. At almost the end of their set, the lighting dude started to change the lighting up a touch. Finally, it' not all just solid yellows and reds.

decapitated: holy shit. From the first f'ing note they hammered out, they were spot on with their CDs. Yes, somethings didn't sound quite right without the second guitar player, but it was a minimal distraction at most. Tighter than anyone. After the first song, I kept yelling out "playing frailties", but I don't think anyone got it until forced blue to hear me. their singer now has long hair. I guess when the old one cut itm they just got a new one. they also nolonger do the polish headbanging! I guess vader is the only one left don't it. Arg! Awesome set though, seriously. At 11pm they stopped, said thanks and walked off the stage. Then most of the crowd clapped, gave the horns and walked out of the club. Whoah...

after 6+ hours here, my lungs are dead. I think cancer is inevitable.

krisiun: when it started, the crowd in the front was mostly couples making out for some reason, todd, and myself."todd, stop looking at me like that" krisiun+alcohol 's the new spanishfly! But some of the crowd came back (not nearly all of it) and all the latinos came back in for their set. There was even a brazilian flag (recycled from soulfly?) that was held up by the crowd. they blasted the audience with tons of tracks. I remember the first few times I saw them, it was just kind of like guitar masturbation. They stopped doing that probably 3 years ago. The first person I saw tossed out happend during their set. Some dude was pulled from the crowd tossed down and dragged out. As their set progressed, the crowd thinned out again. Once they ended the front of the stage was empty. There are still 40ish people milling about. Let's see how the front looks in 15 minutes.

The highlight of tonight was when Six feet under was between songs and my friend Lisa yelled " Where's your sandals mother fucker?" at Chris Barnes. I even saw a smile out of you Rev. By the way that kid hit his head on the barricade during Downfall and that's why he passed out. Headbanging is dangerous at Marks.

I was told that he drank too much and his body just shutdown... but he could have hit his head on the barricade

I was told from someone near him that he hit his head. That kids a weirdo anyway. I've seen him at alot of shows. My favorite was when he followed Meagan around the Middle East upstairs.

SFU ripped tonight!! 13 songs in their set and I liked all of them.Krisiun were cool,Decapitated and Abysmal Dawn were boring and Zircon were allright.Chris Barnes looked like he just rolled out of bed when he first came onstage lol!! I talked to Terry Butler for a few minutes and he was cool.He told me that the show at Goodtimes was cancelled due to a problem with the promoter. He also said that they get longer sets at other clubs in this country.

Im not out of my mind.I dont like them.I watched them for about 15 minutes and that was all I could take. Not my style of Death Metal.Im waiting for the SFU bashing again. They sounded tight as hell.Played more songs from the Haunting than I thought they would. It was cool that they played War Machine too.Not that Im a KISS fan anymore. The days of listening to them ended once I entered my late teens.

six feet under: it's been a long time since I've seen these guys. Man, barnes's beard and dreds have gotten so long. He's looking pretty old but seemed in good spirits. They started of with newer songs so I tuned out. SFU's drums are actually written slow enough for the drummer to be able to take bong hits between songs. The last time I saw them, it was such a feel good show and they played so many things that then never usually do. The drummer actually got tired out. This time, I couldn't even see the drummer. This wasn't like the time I saw them with the seth putnam incident.. Though I expect that the AC show on the same night as an SFU show to not be a coincedence. Was chris b. mega stoned? It didn't seem so... But the microphone that looked like a discoball at the end of a kelidoscope said differently. While they were playing "victim of the paranoid", I realized he looked really paranoid.. On stage.. I honestly think he wasn't that stone if at all. Wild. they didn't play torture killer...gr... But they play human target. I wanted them to end with torture killer, but they endo'd with War Machine.
