To all you vegan haters and shittalkers out there: A Lesson In Your Evil Ways[views:2629][posts:29]_________________________________________________ [Sep 23,2004 8:17pm - the_taste_of_cigarettes ""] so let it be known that veganism isn't just for hippies. for instance, I am not vegan but eat a vegan diet. Occassionally people rag on me for it and I set out to prove myself, or I find a pastry or something that isn't vegan but i like pastry so I go for it. I then eat something with milk or eggs. Following this, i have encountered these problems: -Nausea accompanied with severe, sharp stomach pains -Diarrhea (often "the runs") -Constipation -Blood in my stool -Bloating -Dehydration / Dizziness -other forms of discomfort this has been happening EVERY TIME I eat something with dairy in it or eggs (though MUCH MUCH moreso with dairy) for the past year. In fact, I know that it is from dairy so well that in Seattle, I drank some Jones soda drink and encoutered some of the symptoms. I was confused, because it was a beverage...a juice drink. I went back and read the ingredients, and the third of forth one was "non-fat skim milk." Apparently it was a smoothie-type-thing. I had only about 1oz worth. Today i ate a cookie with milk fat (the chips), butter, and 1 egg. I then had enough blood in my stool to look like someone poured red ink in the bowl. So that said, I'm probably not going to eat anything from animals again anytime soon, due to health issues. People's bodies stop making enzymes for things once we stop eating them for a while, like dairy products or certain animal proteins. Be nice to your local vegan! It might not be your choice for diet, but it's theirs and picking on them will just make them eat the donut or ice cream and shit blood like me. (holds stomach in pain) |

Prior to civilization, we only really drank milk when it came from our mothers, and then when we stopped the enzyme the breaks down lactose turns off as it is superfluous and the body need not manufacture it anymore. However, since the production of dairy on a more consistent basis, with animal husbandry and all, dairy enzymes stay on longer as we take them in. It is very common for long-term vegans to eventually "become" lactose intolerant after a point. When I was in junior high, I used to chug a gallon skim milk a day. Now, if I even have a sip of somethign with dairy, or eat pizza that had cheese on it prior, I get like this (feels awful) Point is, so many people go "Dude, just eat the fucking pizza" or "It's only a little meat" or even say "It's totally vegan" but really has cheese or chicken broth in it and it's pretty god damn ignorant cause they do that thinking it's all just a "choice" but at some point it's very tough for your body to turn back. My friend Tristan was vegan for pretty much his whole life - his parents raised him vegetarian and at like 8 or 9 he switched to vegan. Then at 20 or so he tried a piece of fish and threw up like you wouldn't imagine. He ate a piece of pizza in Europe since he had trouble finding vegan food and got so backed up he had to go to the hospital. All I'm saying is be a little more compassionate to people who are vegan, treat them as they have legitimate food allergies after a while, cause otherwise we can get really really sick...and it's not very funny when that happens. :( |
