RyanMDF said:
xeatadickx said:
wow, what crap bands. i dont understand how you go from what they had the first year, to this...to refresh your memories, a few bands from the first year: DEVOURMENT SUFFOCATION (1st reunion show) NECROPHAGIST Aborted Dying Fetus Saprogenic Foetopsy Brodequin Goratory Retch Putrid Pile Soils Of Fate and now we get Birdflesh, Abcess and Kill the Client. total crap. i don't understand how a first-time show gets bands of that calibre, then once they're sucessful they get nothing but bottom of the barrel garbage...lame grind, boring goregrind and dated-sounding death metal bands dont exactly make my knob twitch. if theyre gonna flood the fest with grind like they did last eyar, at least get GOOD grind bands...ion dissonance, bodies in the gears of the apparatus, fuck the facts... boo to this so far. and im not really expecting any huge announcements, either...remember last year, when rumors were flying around that tey were gonna get Cryptopsy and Sect of Execration? sorry kids, here's macabre as a headliner instead. thumbs fucking down.
Hi there, Ryan here with the MDF. Wow, your words are just a little bit out of line. Allow me to inform you of a few things. POINT: Yeah, the first year was predominantly brutal death metal bands, that is correct. Unfortunately, we listen to more than just brutal death metal these days, and quite honestly, we have bands play that we like. I personally listen to everything, death metal, grindcore, goregrind, metalcore, whatever. Let me offer my apologies for having an interest of anything else outside the realm of strictly brutal death metal bands. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy every band you mentioned from the 2003 fest, otherwise they wouldn't have been playing at MDF. COUNTERPOINT: hey, you're the ones who called it DEATHfest. not death & grind fest, or gorefest, or anything else of the sort. you wouldnt put on a fest called blazing winds of unholy creationsfest and then book posi-youth hardcore, would you? and way to assume what i like in music. yeah i love death metal. but guess what? i also listen to black metal, grind, thrash, doom, jazz, classical, bluegrass, hiphop, 60s rock, swing, big band, oi, and folk, to name a few. POINT: I personally like the bands we've announced so far, so if you'd like to start your own fest and create something to your liking, feel free. It's hard for me to see anyone whine based on the fact that we bust our asses just to try and do something good for the underground scene in general. COUNTERPOINT: before great white blew up rhode island, i was putting on metal shows at a diy club i ran with my friend mike. and guess what? we had the money saved up and were plannign a fest, and had these bands confirmed: putrid pile, saprogenic, anal bleeding, pig destroyer, dysentery, retch, bound and gagged, terminally your aborted ghost, and a few others...but then we needed the money to get a new place to live because the fire marshall shut down everything and kicked everyone out. POINT:For the record, the 2003 was not successful at all for us. I'm not sure how you can claim that for me because personally I had no money at all after the 2003 fest. Thanks for assuming, though. COUNTERPOINT: well im sorry ot hear that it wasnt financially sucessful for you, even though after the 2003 fest your website said, and i quote "was a ROUSING success! can't wait to do it next year!" when you write things like that, then you're really not leaving much left to assume. Most of all, it's funny that you mention getting "good grind" bands, when 2 of them were scheduled to appear last year. Bodies in the Gears played the fest, and Ion Dissonance would've if it weren't for the Canadian border police stopping them. Why don't you name me some bands that we don't already know? COUNTERPOINT: this isnt a "im so underground, look at all the bands i know and you dont" fight. if you know about all these sick grind bands, do something with that knowledge and book them. dont look and say "hey, Fuck The Facts is awesome...lets book Dead Infection instead, and 12 bands that sound just like them". and if you want me to leave you some sick grind band names, like i said, Fuck The Facts. Antigama. Another Kind of Death. CBT. Commit Suicide. Dahmer. The Day Everything BEcame Nothing. The Kill. Decrypt. Embolism. Ingrowing. Fuck...I'm Dead. Agothacles. Inhume. Malignant Tumour. Pigsty. Rzeznia. Negligent Collateral Collapse. Spinegrinder. Vaginal Carnage. Watchmaker. ok, im bored. POINT: I remember the rumours of Cryptopsy. Rumours are what they'll be, who cares. However, I don't believe Evan or myself ever talked to Sect of Execration about playing the fest. In fact, I don't think we ever even considered them. So, that's how important your rumours are... COUNTERPOINT: well rumors stay rumors until you open your mouths and either confirm or deny them. i dont remember anyone saying anything about it when the buzz was flying about it. POINT: Finally, we don't believe in having a "headliner" anymore. When all is said and done with this current lineup, there will be several bands that could possibly headline. We don't plan on trying to dazzle anyone by singling out one band to come to the fest and see. Thanks for your attention. COUNTERPOINT: well thats great for you if you don't consider headliners anymore, but the fact is most people WILL go out of the way to go see these big bands that stand out. i know thats the reason me and my friends drove 700 miles to your fest, because Devourment, Aborted, and Suffocation were there, and prominently displayed for all to see. how many people came out to 2004 compared to 2003? from what i hear, not even half. Thanks for your attention.
