All threds[views:3811][posts:44]_____________________________________ [Oct 6,2004 3:33am - Ross N Ross ""] Having graced such bands as In Dire Need and What weapons Bring War. It has been along time coming that I say this. In the eairly days of the Mass metal scene exsisted such a band called Seven Day Curse. This band was amazing, and still to this day I consider them one of my favorite bands. However this band never got the credit they deserved and bands that are around today owe everthing to this band. If it wasn't for Dan Lozzi you would have never heard of In Dire Need. Dan has been in may bands. His most recent band Summitt is now done. I cant believe nobody remebers this legand, but its also evem sader that no one remebers. Because this band was fucking amazing and paved the way for other bands. On the topic of In Dire Need, I apologize this band is still going in one from or the other, it should have ended with Dave and I exictitng the band. I have no hard feelings towards any of the guys. What Weapons Bring War was the best band I was in, they have potential to do something real in the music scene, and I hope they get some where. With a new line up comes changes, but I hope I left a lasting impression on the Mass metal scene. Iam retiring from music for good, One because I need to get on with my life, and two becaue I will be a detective some day(plus Dan Lozzi is done). So I cant believe that the Mass metal scene has come to this, SHIt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well I will always remeber the days of NOK, Seven Day Curse, and Etarnal Suffering. It sucks that the scene isn't what it use to be but time changes everything. GOOD BYE Ross N Roll PS Rest in Peace Gene Banks, Good luck to all in Ascendancy |

____________________________________ [Oct 6,2004 9:21am - RustedAngel ""] hey rosstrocity!!! of course most of us know sevenday curse, they were around, but never really played many shows especially in MA, and none in NH or ME. I remember first hearing them on the 'metal is a tough buisness' comp. I thought they were pretty good. Then Hamartia came around and stole the torch from them. Both great bands from the area. it sucks to hear that you're giving up music man... I don't care what you're going to become, you shouldn't just give it up. I mean sheit!!! It sucks that we never really got to hang out much other than LFTD shows and early IDN shows. I do agree that the band should have ended when you left, it wasn't right after especially just seeing Delay as the only guitarist playing. Anyways, Always remember, "GOOO RUUUN GET TO DA CHOPPAHHH!!!" good luck -t- |

I played with Eternal Suffering once. No one remembers KissyFace! |

____________________________________________ [Oct 6,2004 3:15pm - MarkFuckingRichards ""] I REMEMBER KISSY FACE!!! can't remember what they sounded like, but this kid mike DeMeo always wore their shirt at school... i think what ross means is that to most of the south shore of mass, as well as a few other parts, sevenday curse was quite influential, and still is. i can't even begin to count how many bands i know that started because of them and eternal suffering around here. they set up a shitload of shows with help from other locals and did a lot for the south shore. the reason i started going to shows was because of sevenday and ES, as well as many of my friends. before them, there was no solid list of metal bands from around here or that played around here regularly (south shore that is). not saying that they started metal or anything, but they helped it in these parts a shit load. i don't care what anyone says about sevenday, they were definitely fucking sick as hell and ahead of their time if you ask me. i should be trying out for the drummer and bassist's new band pretty soon. good stuff. we'll see you around ross...if you're not already in NC, have a safe trip down there and good luck with whatever endeavors you take part in. |
_____________________________________ [Oct 6,2004 4:07pm - lady_czerach ""] Sevenday Curse played all the time when I was in high school. I probably went to more shows then than I do now. They were hugely influential on the South Shore scene, but mainly played with Brockton hardcore bands (this was before there was such a divide between metal and hardcore). Dan Lozzi was the mastermind behind all of his bands and side projects: SDC, Summit, All These Years, UpSet, Adversary... Even if you don't like these bands, or even if they didn't directly influence you, there is no denying that Dan played a huge role in shaping the local scene as it is today. I'm sad to see him giving up. |
___________________________________ [Oct 6,2004 6:07pm - BornSoVile ""] wow. i first met lozzi at an obscure ashland high battle of the bands, i had a few buddies playing there and this band from Franklin called Dead Tree Sway was the only metal band there. It was crazy shit. Dan gave me a flyer for a show at the espresso bar featuring SDC. I was at the show with my band Teenage Revolt and we talked with Dan for at least an hour or so about politics, cops, edge, my buddy getting arrested on stage...i never forgot that. then a year or two later I heard SDC on Nasty Habits and other local bands like the Year of Our Lord got me hooked into metal. fuck. well the best part was after i joined ascendancy, lozzi was playing with summit in the room next to us. i was shocked and we both couldn't believe we remembered each other from that stupid battle of the bands. one of the few people i met at the age of 15 who took me seriously. good times. Ross! Best of luck to yah bro, I'm sure you'll be fine out there in the real world. hopefully we'll see you round a show sometime and have a beer. SDC was an amazing band. If you havn't heard of them you are either A. young B. numb C. retarded Lozzi was someone who did this for the scene, not just himself, something that is completly absent from these parts nowadays. |
_____________________________ [Oct 6,2004 8:25pm - nick ""] dan lozzi's mom (mrs lozzi) was my highschool intro to psyche teacher. she was both highly influential in my academic studies and to the south shore metal/hardcore scene scene. |
____________________________________________ [Oct 6,2004 8:38pm - MarkFuckingRichards ""] haha... back when i worked at stop and shop, mrs. lozzi often purchased large quantities of foods and other assorted provisional items, as well as gave birth to dan lozzi. now that's productivity. |

Alex Carrara, the drummer of TOS, is like the only person with a copy of the demo anymore. Even I don't have one. The line-up was: KissyChris (of sic.semper.tyrannis) PatrickFace (later of Slaves To The Metropolis) Jason Vorhees (me) Optimus Prime (Brian Viglione, later to be of The Dresden Dolls and Asciento; succeeded by Pepe Anselone later to be of The National Blue and Ruby Lashes) I can copy the stuff or rip it (this was back when people made demo TAPES, not CDs) if you want it. When Pepe couldn't play, we had the drumemr of Eternal Suffering play for us at one show (the show with Sevendaycurse). Mike Demeo (aka Mikey D) filled in on vocals I think, too...and we were the "back-up band" for Mike's other band (I can't remember the name)...we all pretended we were in his band and made up songs. The whole show was in a gazebo on some field down on the cape, so it's all mixed up in my brain. Maybe Pepe was there...and the drummer of Eternal Suffering filled in on the "mock" band we did for Mike. Who knows. We used to have a website and we had a picture of Mikey D's school photo (he wore the KF shirt!!) with a caption that said "Mikey D: KissyFace #1 Fan!" I'm glad someone besides me remembers that band. Thanks! |
