| _______________________________ [Oct 12,2004 2:09pm - jake ""] kudos to the rev because it's hilarious trying to talk to some of my (very distant) aunts and uncles because their sentences are basically choppy english w/thick italian accent that just slowly turns into full on italian. unfortunately i haven't gotten on the ball with taking any italian classes or tape/cd learning so im stuck with the ol' "smile and nod" routine. i found that as long as you make physical contact while carrying a conversation, they yell a little less and smile alot more. a kiss on the cheek pre/post conversation is totally obligatory though haha. you're more than welcome to come to one of our family gatherings but be prepared - the mainini / coletta women do ALOT of cooking and cleaning and you might just be sucked in. |
