Just get in touch with your credit card's fraud department (if they haven't contacted you already). If this person has been ringing up charges in other states, this will be very easy to clear up. If they've only been using your credit card for online purchases, it's a little harder to prove, but hopefully they'll be able to trace the IP address of the person who did this (or their server), and at the very least, establish that those charges were incurred from a computer far, far away from where you live. Either way, this is why I NEVER use a real CC or my bank card for online purchases. I use money orders, checques, or cash. If I need a CC for online or whatever, I go to Cumberland Farms and buy a pre-paid credit card. It's worth the $10 fee, and you can reload it any time for a $4 a month fee. |
