anyone know of a reasonably priced quality mastering house?[views:4577][posts:15]___________________________________ [Dec 14,2004 6:23pm - hanlon666 ""] It has been suggested to me that I am in need of some mastering for my latest project. I am also poor, so price would be a factor, anyone know of a place where quality and low price intersect? Or perhaps of a program that would allow me to work on it myself? Any info would be appreciated, thanks. |
______________________________ [Dec 14,2004 6:33pm - Blue ""] how much are you looking to spend per hour? |
___________________________________ [Dec 14,2004 6:43pm - hanlon666 ""] I have no idea, the guys from the network did it buy the length of the audio, I think it was like $100 for ten minutes or something like that, does that sound reasonable? |
______________________________ [Dec 14,2004 6:48pm - Blue ""] i dont know, but the guy that did our full length (nick zampiello @ new alliance east) was really good. he mastered cds from the red chord, on broken wings, isis and more. he charges 50 bucks per hour, and our cd was $300 (the cd was 50 minutes in length). so roughly our mastering was $55 per 10 minutes. so i wouldnt call his rates that reasonable. |
___________________________________ [Dec 14,2004 6:50pm - hanlon666 ""] that sounds pretty good. I think I am looking at about 25 minutes. Do you guys have any mp3s up anywhere from that session, not that they will sound as good but to give me an idea anyway? |

You could go upstairs to Ken at Wonderdrug for $35 an hour though, and myself and Strep Cunt of the infamous CRYOSTASIUM were extremely pleased with the job he did on the upcoming CRYOSTASIUM CD. I think it's just shy of 27 min and it was 2 hours of mastering work. |
