This is a benefit show for the owner, Cathy, who had a triple bypass surgery. Considering the state of health insurance in this country, she needs help to pay the big bill. So far the line-up is (in no particular order): The Fuzz (members of Vincebus Eruptum and Dropdead, heavy bass noise rock Providence style) Nefarious (black death grim) Noosebomb (doomy stoner metal, members of Grief and Disrupt) Necronomitron (spazztic prog metal) Neoprophets (crusty punk, Nefarious members) Contempt For Humanity (I'm not saying Discharge anymore, but you get the idea, with Steve from Distraught) It's donation, I'll be at the door so be prepared to take your wallets out. $5 minimum suggested donation... 21+ It's on Eddy st in Providence. Just for people who are not from town: The Safari Lounge is a very dark and filthy pub downtown Providence. They have old Metallica in the jukebox, a big white snake in a fish tank, and a small stage for the drummer (note:Nefarious's drum set fits on it so it's not THAT small). They do not have a license to charge people at the door so every shows there is free. I've seen some crazy shows down there, countless Lightning Bolt show, one of them, in July 2 or so years ago, ended up in the alley way in front of the Safari cause Lightning Bolt didn't want to play inside cause it was too hot/humid, Jimmy- the owner- let them play outside. Every single bands in PVD has played there, most of them had their first show there. Jimmy and Kathy are the coolest club owners in town, they don't care if it's noise, metal, punk or whatever...they never bitch beside when Phobia ties to sneak in but hey...it's 21 plus. It's a shitty bar, but it's the best place for metal shows in PVD, just too bad it's 21+ and can't charge at the door. Note:if you're not 21 it doesn't really matter you might be able to get in, this show might be jam packed and obvioulsy Kathy won't be there to take care of kicking you out... |

BUT I woke up and call Scott ask him if he could close. Passed out at 7/8ish, woke up every hour, got up at 1pm when it was time for my roomates to go to work. Went to the show, drank, then to the liquor store, to Forest's house, drank some more, a whole bottle of vodka, watched TV, made an ass of myself cause I was so drunk. Bryan woke me up at 11:30 the day after, to go to Andy's funeral and I was still drunk. Then I drank some more. Now I'm fine but I need booze. I remember Forest asking me who was the old guy he was talking too all night, that was Rick. |
