i dunno. Im sure theres more to making music than driving hundreds of miles to play shows for like 13 kids, and getting 10 bux, having to work a shitty job, and trying to focus on your music while paying bills, and other shit gets in the way. I think its about time that bands with accomplished musicians are getting credit, and perhaps might have the chance to do what they love, and live off it. Theres nothing wrong with that. I think the success of shadows fall, and even thursday, and poison the well will open doors, and give other oppurtunities <br>who knows maybe numetal is like our glam rock, and metalcore will be the next grunge, and ruin all that nu metal shit

shadows fall has been on their way to pop selloutness for quite some time. this is just the icing on the cake. them, killswitch engage, and poison the well are well on their way to being the new favorite bands of every kid in a slipknot jumpsuit, and every stupid teenie bopper little girl whos fathers didn't give them enough attention so they goto ozzfest shows so guys will grab their boobs. what a fantastic day for metal and hardcore and all those bands. well i saw SHADOWS FALL on friday at the met. it was a great show. i enjoyed it and so did many other people around me!!! yeah they played that NEW SONG that MTV knows about..it rocked!! but so does his awasome dread locks!! but i mean who ever really watches that mtvcrap anyways?? to kill time.. and if the right person watches it at the right time to see some thing that is keeping the scene more alive and the cylce of bands flowing.. im all 4 it!! i agree with xmikex as soon as slipknot fags get a hold of it, its trash,fuck waisting you money on them so they can water down "metalcore" a genre that many kids in small time bands craft and hold so dear. Money is money if you get it sellin crack or if you get it selling records but then again we all can't be rappers. Skinless played with Static X in Japan on the Beastfest (I found out from their website) maybe they'll sell out and all the manson fag kids can say "I'm skinless" or some gay shit. fuck music, there is no such thing i'm a grind kid really. But I support the <br>local hardcore/metal bands because I am friends with em and at least I only have to pay $6-$8 as apposed to $25 to see Slipknot (like I ever would). So as soon as they get any attention from their music, they suck right? Pretty pathetic. I like lots of different music, including Slipknot. That makes me a sheep in the majority of your eyes right? The ones that posted here that are Shadows Fall fans should decide that they suck now just because MTV gave them some attention. One minute the metal community says that they hate nu-metal and instead should listen to other forms of metal that you believe are better, then in the next breath you get pissed because too many people are listening to a particular type of band that fits into that catagory, and you deem them sell-outs.
Like bands because you like their music, not by how many fans they have or what kind of people enjoy that music.

shadows fall could be the most underground band in the world for all i care. it still wouldn't change the fact that I didn't like Of One Blood. I thought it was a stupid cd, with stupid songs. I don't like fruity melodic parts every 10 seconds, I don't like gay clean vocal parts every 5 seconds, and don't like half assed breakdowns. They're great musicians....fantastic for them....so is Bon Jovi arguably but that doesn't mean I have to like Bon Jovi now do i?

I'm an idiot because I don't like Shadows Fall? I was listening to Shadows Fall 9 years ago, while you were probably in ninja turtle pajamas rocking out to a Sesame Street sing along tape on your Fisher Price tape recorder. They went mainstream, changed their sound and now they make me want to puke on myself. Overcast was terrible, nu-Shadows Fall is boring, and Killswitch Engage is god awful. You probably like Killswitch because you're a new jack nerd who just discovered Fear Factory and thinks they know everything because they picked up a Roadrunner records sampler at ozzfest. My suggestion to you is to put on your best pair of bondage pants, polish up your safety pins and head back to the mall where someone might actually care about your opinion because all you're doing here is embarassing yourself. Shadows Fall is awesome. They didn't sell out or "go mainstream" in any way, shape or for. The mainstream came to them, as it did for Lamb Of God, Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage, God Forbid, Unearth, In Flames, Bleeding Through, and a TON of other bands. Of course, I am sure all of those bands suck too? The FACT is, stuff that was "underground" a few years ago isn't so "underground" anymore, and nu metal is a dying breed and the metalcore and hardcore and all that stuff is becoming more and more accessible. Headbangers Ball is back and they play anything and everything. Face it, the Slipknot kids are looking for something new and bands like Shadows Fall and Unearth are the only thing that is going right now that they can relate to. Maybe a year will go by and people will move on to a new phase and you can all have your precious bands back. Who knows!

i don't want any of those bands back. I saw hatebreed a hundred times when they were still fun to see. I never liked killswitch, not even when they were the big scene band to like. if shadows fall is gay for being on MTV then so isnt Arch enemy, AOW, as i lay dying, ringworm, in flames (such a gay video) black dahlia murder, agony scene, cattle decapatation, goatwhore, and 100 other hardcore and metal bands. hell even dimmu suckburger and COF have vids too. yes metal has gone mainstream and it will only be getting WORSE. it is very funny that 2 years ago in this very thread some one mentioned seeing slipknot and shadows fall patches on the same kids pants and that happens everyday now. and since the hardcore kids like emo and metal and the emo fags are starting to go to hardcore shows and now there are emo fag metal bands like avenged sevenfold.
i cant wait till all out war-hatebreed-slayer-opeth-cryptopsy-blink 182 - green day -metallica- and destiny's child all play the fucking lilith fair someday with the dj from cypress hill smokin blunts and "spinnin wax" all day

Whats the difference between Metalcore and Hardcore to you guys? I am just curious? Fill me in, Because what I remember Hardcore as being was Agnostic Front, Old Biohazard, Next Step Up, Undermine, Integrity. That was the Hardcore I grew-up listening to. Help me out.

i have all the right in the world to say any band sucks. if everyone liked everything then what would be the point?
No, because I hate a lot of bands music (ie: Slayer, Dimmu Borgir, etc, etc) but still think they are amazing musicians. So just because you don't like a band, doesn't mean they aren't a good band. You just don't like their music. Shadows Fall is a group of amazing musicians. There is absolutely no denying this whatsoever. Both Jon Donias and Matt Bachand could wipe their ass with just about anyone breathing on guitar. They did not sell out in any way, shape or form. As a matter of fact, I heard two new songs and they are fucking HEAVY. One of them is just a constant breakdown, I swear. People who look at things as white and black like you obviously do are so lame. It's like there's no in between, you either like it or it sucks. Lame. It's just as lame as people who say crap like "and i was going to see half of those bands you mentioned long before the majority of kids who post here ever even knew about them." Yeah buddy, here's 15 scene points and a pat on the back. You're the bomb diggity chief.

The difference I think between todays metalcore and todays hardcore is more or less the way the song flows. Todays hardcore seems to just be wicked dumbed down punk played heavier, todays metalcore seems to be wicked dumbed down metal, played lighter and has fused itself with the worst qualities of Creed.
The so-called grindcore that most of the so-called hardcore kids listen to is basically just the exact same as metalcore, but with gayer lyrics.

so you're saying i don't have the right to say i don't think a band is good? I didn't know the underground scene was now operating as the Opinion Gestapo. IF I DONT THINK A BAND IS GOOD I HAVE EVERY RIGHT IN THE WORLD TO SAY SO. Being a good musician doesn't mean everything you write is flawless. That is what I judge bands on, ability to write songs. I don't see the point in masterbating over how well a band writes a terrible song. That's just assinine. It's like making a penut butter, and AA battery sandwich and then sitting there saying "Well it's more or less inedible, but i do love penut butter and AA batteries just have so many uses."
I'm trying to be nice about this, and i don't see why you insist on antagonizing me especially seeing as how we know eachother. But if publically sucking off Shadows Fal means taht much you want to keep pressing me you picked a shitty night to do so. So why don't you just calm down and let me make fun of who i want to.

Ok, I havn't read more than parts of 3 posts or so, but here is what I think. I don't listen to Shadows Fall. I don't listen to Killswitch either, or Poison the Well. I saw Shadows Fall once (last year at the metal fest) and I wasn't thrilled or anything, but I don't dislike them. Other than that, I have heard one song, Crushing Belial. All irrellevant though. Who cares whether they are on MTV or not??? You know how stupid it is to listen to music just cause it is popular? Isn't that stupid?? You are supposed to listen to what makes you happy, not what is popular! So how is disowning a band just because they get popular any different?? I think, and always have thought, that it is JUST as folly (no more or less) to be a fan of a certain kind of music or a certain band because it is the "in" thing, as it is to be derogative towards a certain kind of music or a certain band only because it is the "in" thing. Those who are fans of Shadows Fall and enjoy their music shouldn't be affected in anyway by their appearance on MTV.
