I went down since the conifer crew was heading out to a show and I figured, since they are in my town, I might as well. fumare: from portland maine. they were a little indie and a little space. I think that they would have been better if the guitar sounded fuller. it did really come out well. I didn't really care for the girls voice too much. I think they sounded some what like low. tiny whales: a new portsmouth townie band. I hadn't ever heard anything about them before and when I asked people what they sounded like, no one could answer me. I think the best part about the band was the girls voice. it reminded me of tonya donnelly or the girl from Taggin Satellites. the drumming was sometimes simple like the chinese stars and other times much better and harder. the synths sounded a lot like the smashing pumpkin's cover that the mercury switch does. I think the guitar was the least evident part of then band. I really couldn't hear it at all. In the end, they were going to play gigantic (pixies cover), but gave up... saddly. |
