| ______________________________________ [Apr 24,2005 2:35am - the_reverend ""] mainstage stil_remains: they didn't show. the_killing: I thought this was kill the client... but I was wrong. good stuff. the sample player sang too, but you couldn't hear what he was doing. glass_casket: this was a little early for them to go on. though I think they played about this time last year. twelve_tribes: hm... awesome to see them, but I think that the singer misunderstood me. I DID take pictures of you guys, obviously. their set was good... but I was dealing with the "two songs main stage all day" for shooting starting with them. reflux: changed spots with ms? I don't know about that. the same as the last time I saw them... I thought they were zao for a second... but then they came one and I thought "this sounds nothing like them." why? cause they did a melodic, "jammy" intro before the singer came out. a_life_once_lost: damn is that singer hard to follow around the stage...listening to their new stuff, I was reminded of the BHBS set to come. trivium: they sounded awesome, but they aren't really my thing. lot of rocking out though. the_red_chord: hilarious! the sound for them was awesome all over the venue. Guy spent most of his time (if not all) on the crowd. every song was "your last chance to dance" even when they had 2 songs left. TRC was also the only band that I've seen yet to sucessfully get the crowd to do a circle pit. bury_your_dead: they set up so quickly that I almost missed their set. matt was in the crowd a lot too. the pit was kind of violent, but I knew 90% of the people in there. ice_pick: they too so long to set up. I came down from WOJ early to get my first 2 songs. then I watched WOJ come out having finished their set... then caliban set up and start playing... finally, they came out and played 3 songs. no offense to death threat, hatebreed, or anyone, but it sucked. sorry guys, I will have to catch you when it's a good full set. they finished with a hatebreed song. sonata_arctica: honestly, I thought these guys were bad too. it's a type of music that I just don't like. reminded me of sameal (who I don't like either), but with the stage antics of CoB. I don't know.. it might have helped if I had listened to their CD first. strapping_young_lad: yes! it's been a while since I've seen them. a little too long IMHO. they ruled. devin is a very funny man. and some day, I will have hair just like that... though.. he's got dreds now which I don't care for. terror: this is where the sound go WAY too loud. I honestly couldn't here any of the song that I didn't know. Scott vogel spent a lot of his time in the audience or on stage giving speeched. it was weird that he gave a speech about no rockstars on stage, but there was a stage hand running out and moving a chair for him to stand on and fixing the position of the mic chord. I was singing along with spit my rage, push it away and one other. during push it away, I saw the_moor launched almost out of the crowd. sitting on the side of the start, the pounding of the speakers was the most punishing of all the bands thus far. god_forbid: the singer kept asking for people to "raise the flag" that meant to put up the horns. they have a new CD coming out and played some new new tracks. they also focused too much on the last cd, imho. cryptopsy: AMAZING. the sound sucked, but... is freaking crytopsy. Lordworm's vocals were kind of lost in the mix. though when I heard that piano come in.. I knew what song was coming up. in the end, no drum solo, but lord worm lived up to his name and eat the worms. one was crawling down his neck... poor little guy. why he didn't feed the crowd, I'll never know. they also got the lits turned on for them cause their time was up. bleeding_through: their new hair cuts are awesome. the singer's looke like a little school boy mixed with hitler. their set was awesome as usual. another set that I was singing along with all the time. high energy to the max. chimaira: their set was ok. live, it's a lot better than on CD. Tally on drums to, which sounded awesome. danzig: I heard that he was fat and old so no pictures during him.... just a rumor. |

The agony scene: much better on cd. just ok live would not make much of an effort to see again Glass casket: Pretty good. sound was ok but there was nobady around at the time. Twlve tribes: Iwatched a song and a half and was forced upstairs. Misery signals: Saw about 2 minutes of their set. paid no mind. i went up to see it dies today and instead was treated to full blown crap. Full blown chaos: lots of energy. hit people guy dood. The red chord: caught half of their set. sounded pretty good. people liked it. i didn't think it was spectacular. Sonata Arctica: sounded good. not my thing. Darkest hour: pretty good lots of energy. sounded kind of muddy. most of the upstairs sound has sucked so far this year. Blood has been shed: too long since i have seen them last. fuck killswitch. Terror: they played songs about hitting people or something. whatever. God Forbid: i was tired and went to the balcony. sounded shitty from their. they where good. Cryptopsy: sound could have been better. Flo is a maniac and seeing him live is fun. Eat worms its fun. insane set. Bleeding though: back to the floor. Every time i see this band they have the most energy of and band on the bill and i have yet to see them put on a bad show. Chimaira: I thought they where like a tolken black kid who was just thrown around to fill space but people actually sang along. I thought they sucked. they should have been on earlier. Danzig: balcony again. half of bleeding through came up to watch from the balcony. terrible for the first 2 songs. warmed up a bit, got better. Doyle came out, first song sloppy, got better. i was still dissapointed in the set. after all the hype and sitting through chimaira and the long set up time i left halfway through. |

I was sort of surprised. I know that there are a lot of fans of this band, but I couldn't get into their CD. if hope dies: ok crowd response. I think they get a lot of hardcore kids come up cause they have the word "die" and "hope" abd "if" in the name. they are a lot more metal than that and don't have a ton of breakdowns. there were many more people upstairs as down stairs. the acacia strain: western mass kids filled this place. it was probably the best response I've seen them get at the palladium. then again, I've seen them open a whole lot of metal show here. misery signals: always awesome to see these guys. I sang along to almost all the songs. remembering never: the singer gets to play american idol host. whenever he puts the mic in the crowd during clean singing parts. I mean.. there are a lot of people in that audience who have never and should never have a mic in front of them. full blown chaos: IDT was not there yet so FBC were bumped up. I think they had the most open pit of the night. I basically was able to walk almost to the back through it. Sean and Nate DWD sang alng at different parts. I looked up and saw sean almost blaze a trail over me, but he stopped thankfully. it dies today: how can a band with such a pussy sounding record be so tough live? the crowd was nuts for them. I guess they had a horrible time lately and drove 2 days straight from CA to here just to play. walls of jericho: one of my favrites of the evening. I ended up leaving after a couple songs to catch icepick. which sucked cause icepick took so long. caliban: sounded awesome, minus the crappy voices from the crowd who were trying to sing along, myself included. darkest hour: the singer lost the mic 1/2 way through sadist nation, but it didn't matter. the drummer was nekkid and everyone else was told to get undressed if they wanted. but no body else did, thankfully. most precious blood: awesome time during their set. I was singing more than shooting. I saw jonah there too. blood has been shed: howard made a rockstar entrence... good set. I took a rest during their set, sitting down to eat a bagel. |

These dudes heard us asking about where it would be to some guy in a gas station and the dudes invited us to stay with them It was If Hope Dies and like they weren't a big band at all, just some kids. They were super fucking funny and really nice and put us up for days and showed us around Town....even to ManOWar's studios! It was and now they get some press. Good for them! Also they got their name from a Mission: Impossible commercial...where the guy goes "If Hope Dies...What Will Remain?" or something to that effect. |
