It was really apparent on the sound Backstabber. first off cause I just was listening to it (comparing it to the drums on the new nile), and secondly cause the sleeping sound person turned the triggers on 1/2 way through the song. by the last two or three songs, the sound came together and sounded really good. I think that jon on that set with it miced up right would sound next to godly. leng tche: no ninja sure, but the new singer actually stayed on the stage. in a strange way, he reminded me of the life at zero singer. it was his first time in the USA. this set really rocked, but I don't have any of their CDs so I know none of their music. malignancy: ok, the sound for them was a perfect mix. the vocals sounded awesome, the drums, the guitar/bass were a little quiet in the mix. my one problem was the whole level was on 7 or something.. I was in the back and I could have taken my earplugs out with out pain. They did get cut a little short. I wasn't really bothered cause it was a lot longer than the other sets of theirs that I've seen get cut short. aborted: how the hell did I forget that they were playing until malignancy mentioned them? I was outside talking about how much I was looking forward to seeing them at MDF. Then *bang* they are playing the show I'm at. Their set was really long. It was awesome too. they played songs off of most everything they put out including a bunch of the new stuff. I was a little let down by them not playing more off the enlightenment CD or the christ denied split, but it was still awesome to finally see them. I can totally see what people are saying about the new CD having a "goovey" side to it. the guitar work is a lot mroe clean sounding. impaled: so everyone's already heard the new CD. it's pretty good, a little weird, not as brootal, but good. well, live it's awesome. their vocals are so deep and brutal. they played stuff from all over their releases AND the bassplayer still blew fire! |

| ____________________________________ [May 26,2005 5:53pm - BornSoVile ""] ka - i thought they finished very strong, i think what happened was the drummer for leng tche forgot to turn on the triggers until backstabber cause i saw him go up on stage, go next to the kit, that shit was loud i could definately see it threw them off a little (how could it not) i thought my heart was gonna explode, good thing i actually brought ear plugs this time. they pulled through like true professionals. leng tche - meeh, not nearly as good was the all asia set, i was slightly disappointed, good band and all but the ninja spoiled me. malignancy - gawd damn, they get better each time, i swear. it was great to see that they FINALLY had a fucking crowd there and got one of the strongest reactions all night. they were pretty much the reason i went. sound was great, they were a little quiet, is it a line 6 thing? still they were nearly flawless. some of my favorite people in this scene, hands down. aborted - didn't pay attention all that much, smoking outside, talking with the latinos about bands and their new band. sounded great though and i was drawn into the last song, i missed a shot of rev totally rocking out on the side. impaled - awesome shit right ehre. i woulda like to seen them play some older shit or maybe even a cover. wish they coulda played longer, oh well. bass player rules, i printed out a picture of him like 3 years ago from this site and it's still up on my wall today, great form, killer vox, outstanding stages presence. couldn't really hear the main vokills that much but i thought they were really tight and collectively played a outstanding set. if the rain keeps up, it won't come down!! |
| ______________________________________________ [May 26,2005 6:14pm - Carcinogenic_Cookies ""] Traveled close to an hour and a 1/2 in treacherous conditions. Missed KA and Leng Tche which I was kind of pissed about but saw who I came to see and got the CD's I came for. Malignancy- Slammy as hell, but technical enough to keep it interesting. Loved the vocals, and I was really impressed with the maniacal guitar player. Aborted- The drummer was extremely fast (but no Flo) and other than that I really didn't like the new school feel, including the shitty breakdowns. The solos were cool, but I hated the cheesy riffs. Maybe it's Belgium. Impaled- I love Carcass. The reason I came, didn't dissapoint. I also wished they played more stuff from TDSDR, but thier riffs are genius, I didn't hate one. The stage show was more than the average band gives and I hope these guys keep making albums and coming back. I also picked up the TYAG album which is now permanently affixed to my CD player. And the Nightmare Continues disc which I heard so many good things about here and didn't dissapoint either. I've seen these guys a bunch but never had a recording and I'm really glad I do now. |

The turnout was excellent for a wed. night! malignancy: great sounding set, Ron could have been louder, he get's an interesting tone out of the pod's, but it doesn't really cut through, then again, it's sounds sick anyways. aborted: I can see what people mean with the weird riffing. I dig goremageddeon a bit, but the new album kinda lost me a bit. Has it's moments though, I'll still throw it on. impaled: missed them on the decapitated tour last time they came around, they tore it up, lots of prescense, awesome playing with gross tone that rules. Driving back to milford was shitty! It was like the sky was dumping the atlantic ocean onto interestate 90. y0wz3rz. Josh why the hell did I not get to talk to you?
