I'm here, there aren't as many people yet. it's hotter outside today, but not as hot yet in the basement. I'm hoping its not going rain. One of the guys from ichabod came in for titd, but they aren't playing for a while.

proteus: they were slammy in some parts and had some slower dirge parts. seeing who the members are, it makes sense. matt was on vocals for them. I wish I could comment on the vocals, but I couldn't really hear them that much. through the PA, I could hear guitars, drums, and bass, but barely any vocals. I have a feeling that they were screechy inhales and lows, but I don't really know.

not yet.

ape shit: super amounts of mega feed back. I think there were suppose to be a punk band, but it was hard to tell. people kept yelling at nip to fix it, but he couldn't. then after a few some songs, the guitar amp broke and they played one song with out the guitar.

bosm: they were pretty killer. the music was punk mixed with black metal and a few sparce melodic parts. the crowd was going a little crazy for them. some circle pits. there were two robots moshing it up. the microphone crapped out during their set. they had to go ghetto with one mic. nip tried to redo all the wires and stuff. I think they need to fix something cause the sound has been really bad.

shanghai valentine: I walked in and there was a little bit of fog floating around. I thought it was a bit odd. by the time I got to the front, there was a lot more fog. as the set progressed, there was even more fog. by the end, you couldn't see ANYTHING. people were really into them, singing along and stuff. I was pretty impressed with the circle pit that raged around the poll in the middle. they didn't play many songs. I guess there was anew guy in the band.

draw blood: they sounded really good through the PA which was dying. this was my first time seeing them with the new singer. they soundeda lot different. it was more like there were wires instead of hardcore. the smoke from the last band hadnt cleared yet either so it was instantly super hot and 100% humidity. they played one song that I really really liked, but I didn't know it. it's probably on the TDB release.

nine is the number of sea serpents ive slayed: it had the singer of youth liberation front. it was punky, but sounded a lot like ylf. they sort of just started to play. I had no idea that they were on the bill and since they borrowed equipment, they might have not known they were playing either.

fruit salad and terminal youth: similar music and similar crowd responses. They had people going ape shit for them. There was also plenty of singing a lot and all. The only real difference between the sound was the jonah chant that fruit salad kicked off.

body, the: there was actually a lot of people there. I was kind of surprised. the front row was most of locked in a vacancy. they played a super short set for some reason. I think that the bands are horribly behind schedule so that's ok with me... though I would have really liked to hear more from them. the music was so insanely downturned that my ears hurt through my ear plugs. they had samples playing and used them very well. this was one of the highlights of the day for me.

as long as were all living were all dying: they got pushed up cause two of the other bands were "far away". I'm guessing that their set will be the height of the craziness for the evening. It was pretty outofcontrol. A few people were trying to protect sam's equipment, but the guitar got unhooked 2 or 3 time. at the end of their set, everyone begged for proclamation, but they wouldn't play it cause there were plenty of bands left to play.

withered: wow, that was awesome. anyone who missed them is a dickhead. it was down tuned death metal. some awesome guitarmenship and dryscreams. they reminded me of someone, but I seriously can't remembr who. anyone how liked sin of angels would love this band too. they drove 12 hours just to get to this show. a weird thing that happened during their set was that a lot of little punk kids were dancing to them. it was really odd, but I think the band liked it a lot.

so locked in a vacancy just stopped playing, I walked to the corner outside and a paddy wagon and a cruiser showed up.
I'm not sure what they are doing, but I heard a bunch of bottles breaking and all the lights inside turned off. there are still 2 bands left so I don't know what is going to happen.

the ds set was really short so that titd could play. kids sang along and i felt really really weird playing with them. not sure why, but i felt like i didnt belong there or something. locked in a vacancy played some new shit and had a cirle pit going through the entire basement. then they covered maiden. it was awesome. titd played like 5 or 6 songs, a few were off kiss the pig. they played really well though. jeff used my drums and didnt seem pleased as to how low they were set up, but they did really well. it was awesome.

locked in a vacancy: it was great, but it was getting wicked late so I understood. they shred so hard, but still have some breakdowns for the moshers. each time I see them, they have more and more technical parts. since this was jonah's last library show, they busted out the trooper for their last song. that was awesome cause punx, hardcore kids, mods, metalers and everyone can get behind maiden.
also, from the minute they got there, the singer watched every band play. 10 points!

disaster strikes: after the cops cleared out they set up for a rogue set really quickly. it was fun and hot... slowly approaching ICC heat cause no one could go outside. they played really quickly and almost all of it was singing along. I think steve austin actually recorded their CD so he was singing a long too. the crowd went crazy and my lens fogged up.

today is the day: in the same weekend, I saw them go from the peak of professional environment and the most DIY, hiding from the cops in a basement. their set was fucking intense. they jumped on ds's equipment and played awesome on it even though it was a million times hotter than any of the bands to this point. it was also awesome cause they played with everyone singing along through the whole set. Watching this happen, people dancing, sweating, and singing along in a basement with the possibility of the cops showing up was so much fun. I wish scenes like that could play out more often and there were more places for bigger bands like titd to play along side with all the other localbands like this. I feel that a lot of metal bands are left out of the DIY scene and basement shows. but this was a very great and special event.

as I walked home, I tried to call back to tell jonah that the cops just turned down pratt st. but blue wouldn't pick up his phone.
