Maybe if you'd acted like an adult, and thought about the tolls and responibilities of raising a child BEFORE you had one, you could have planned ahead and provided a stable living situation for it. Yes, they're fucked there regarless of race or creed. However, we're talking about a people who in the majority are some of our poorest and least likely to be able to get back on their feet. Would they be there for us, if disaster struck here? Not likely, they couldn't afford to. All the money in the world won't help down there, it'd just be rebuilding an area we've already learned is too risky to live in. Instead I think more people should be donating time and effort towards building up a greater response plan and evacuation routes for areas that are as of yet unaffected. The world is full of victims. When we apply this to animals or evolution we call this survival of the fittest. Why then, when applied to humans, do we suddenly feel the need to bear burdens for those who cannot bear their own? |
