WTF

"consumers are entitled to run applications and use services of their choice, subject to the needs of law enforcement."

since when did the USA become a communist country?

----

"bureaucrats at the commission have decreeed that Americans don't have the right to use software such as Skype or PGPfone if it doesn't support mandatory backdoors for wiretapping."

wonderful... if people know there are backdoors, then who's to stop someone from hacking your VoIP phone service to listen in on your conversations with institutions such as banks?

..................................

Welcome to America, land of the free (until we strip those freedoms away) home of the brave (until our "glorious president" *cough, cough* sends all our soldiers off to fight his pointless war)

If I lived in a communist country in the first place, this probably wouldn't bother me, but this is getting absurd

wow, if you go through the comments on that story someone thinks the exact same way I do:

"I'm supprised we haven't tossed out the Constitution yet in favor of marshall law. I think I will stop by my local police station and give them a key to my house and vehicle. While I am at it I will just make sure I log everything I do and give it to them. I would hate to think they would have to work for it.

My only real question is how long before America becomes China? How long before all those rights we take for granted are gone? How long before we have another civil war?"

I'm glad I didn't vote for Dubya :middlefinger: I'm waiting for our glorious right of free speech to be stripped from us... Which I'm sure will happen in due time.

Computer software is not exempt from the law. The document says Americans are entitled to use computer software, subject to the needs of law enforcement. This just means that you can use any software that doesn't break the law. This is not a new idea, rather it is simply being written down in the FCC's policy. It is the same as "americans are entitled to use cars where ever they want, subject to the needs of law enforcement" or "americans are entitled to move about anywhere in the country, subject to the needs of law enforcement." Use the stuff, do what you want, as long is it doesn't break the law.

Republicans are people who work towards a stronger individual. Democrats are people who work towards a stronger government.
George Bush is a person who works for a richer George Bush, just as John Kerry would have worked for a richer John Kerry.
I know that the current administration labels itself republican, but this intrusive government is strictly on the democratic side of a self-sufficient nation.

republicanism only works when there are many strong individuals...if everyone is competent, there is a strong economy. If George bush is the only person with any money or power, then he'll be in control, but in control of a huge collapsed economy.
