_______________________________________ [Oct 21,2005 10:51pm - the_reverend ""] I guess I will use this out of the other 254455 threads about this show to post in. 1) serge booked like 10 other bands to play this show 2) my lungs can't deal with the smoke in there. 3) for some reason they are re-insulating the outside of the bs... I think what they need to do is PUT FUCKING VENTS OR SMOKE EATERS IN THAT SHIT! 4) I knelt in gum... *sad face* |
_______________________________________ [Oct 21,2005 10:53pm - shrapnel ! ""] TONIGHT 11/21!!! what is this the future already ! |
_______________________________________ [Oct 21,2005 11:48pm - the_reverend ""] the future is now. someone fought during the nicaea room and hit some one else in the eye with a bottle (which broke/cut said eye.. I think the eye belonged to the bassplayer from WTF). a lot of people filed out for that and one guy got kicked for the bottle smash... but then I watched him walk back in. right about now, the other bands who thought "girls" ame out for them are realizing why they are here. it seems like serge booked 2 bands and they are going on now (before pillory). it's some lame ault-rock outfit. sorry RTTP guys, girls doing like you... now, rip off some lenny kravitz and def lepard and the girls will come to the bombshelter to see you band. otherwise, stick to stalking the girl you work with late at night. remember, the restraining order might say "no", but her eyes say she's playing hard to get |
_______________________________________ [Oct 22,2005 12:00am - shrapnel ! ""] fights always seem to breakout there, we had a fight breakout during our second song the first time we played there. |
_______________________________________ [Oct 22,2005 12:05am - the_reverend ""] the band now is called alter ego.. I finally saw what they were trying for with their ultra megamega mix of led zeplin's megamega hit who's name I don't know but it's graced the scripts of many-a-beer comercial. there is one more band called nightstalkers or something like that. |
_______________________________________ [Oct 22,2005 12:07am - the_reverend ""] all is forgotten: they were pretty good. I never saw them before and I'm not sure that I ever heard of them before... I am (i guess) all forgotten. It was a weird mix of music. They sort of tossed it a little of just about every. I thought the bass palyer was just watching the guitarist on his side the whole time and I was right they had eric (wtf) filling in. finite, the: this is basically darken the sky's new band. they have added steve (ex-DwD).steve played a ton of tech-hardcore parts and 1/2 the time dan would either follow or just play rhythm guitar. Also I would like to note that the drummer was very tight and played everything while being able to fool around at the same time. It wasn't too much like the breakdownbreakdownbreakdown formula and over all seemed less brutal than DTS, but showed more musical talent. Adding steve was a good idea for this band. |
_______________________________________ [Oct 22,2005 12:22am - the_reverend ""] within the fray: it was at this point that I realize how disgusting/smokey it was in there and how much my cloths stank and my lungs hurt. Any how, eric broke a string (i guess that's what you get when you sport the base in another band). They had a more metal in their music too, loosing most of the metalcore aspects and leaning to the sound of a more metal DTS. they also had their backs to the crowd for most of the set, which limited my options for shooting. nicaea room, the: they get the most drunk award for the evening. The singer and drummer were pretty sloppy. The singer thrashed around the stage and spent 1/2 the time head over heels in the crowd. At some point the fight above happened basically on my back, but I couldn't see anything due to the crappy lights. I know I heard something smash and shower me... Found out later that it was a smashed bottle... But I kept shooting. |
______________________________________ [Oct 22,2005 1:10am - the_reverend ""] alter ego: I wrote about them above. nightstalkers: most people on this board could do the name a bit more justice seeing as they actually are convicted night stalkers. So.... They played a song called "get the fuck out of my house bitch"... Um... Well, it started off with the guitar lines from weezer "heartbreaker" but no body noticed. Everyone left when they finished.. Hella lame. they said they were the best fucking band and I guess they were right. |

____________________________________ [Oct 22,2005 11:02am - Ionsphere ""] ahh man, pillory doesnt get a review? |
_______________________________________ [Oct 22,2005 11:15am - streets WTF ""] its all good heres pillorys review, they payed 150 bucks to play the show last night, didnt go on til 1:30, were bullshit, and there bassist was in prague. but besides that fact i thought they played really well only playing in front of maybe 9 people. |
___________________________________ [Oct 22,2005 1:54pm - Ionsphere ""] wait...they got payed 150, or they payed 150 bucks? who pays to play a show? |
____________________________________ [Oct 23,2005 11:57am - ArrowHead ""] We paid $140 for a van rental, plus gas. |
__________________________________________ [Oct 24,2005 9:51am - largefreakatzero ""] All of this sounds so painfully familiar. I'm so glad we don't play there anymore. |

___________________________________ [Oct 24,2005 12:10pm - brian_dc ""] I won't play there until I get a Furman...don't want my amp getting ruined to play that place....but otherwise, as long as a show is fun, I'm in |
__________________________________ [Oct 24,2005 12:18pm - soloman ""] The previous show we did at the bombshelter was with Wretched Asylum, so we blamed the poor showing on them. That was a time when we would play with anyone who was interested in hearing us. When Within the Fray asked us to do this show, everything looked great. We were on a bill with great bands, and when we got there, the turn out was very good. The owner screwed us by adding 2 cock rock bands last minute and forcing us to play after them at 1:15 in the morning. So yeah fuck that place. |
_______________________________________ [Oct 24,2005 12:35pm - the_reverend ""] ok, better late then never... pillory: they were down a bassplayer cause chris got deported to prague. that meant that 1/2 the backing vocals were gone. besides that it sounded good. at the beginning you couldn't hear daren's vocals at all, but the sound guy turned up the britney spears mic and all was fine. I always thought that dan didn't move around that much cause chris was right there, but sans chris, dan didn't move much. solomon on the other hand, thrashes about as he plays. a lesser band would have just stood there and played, whining between each song, but they didn't. they put on a excellent show whether there was 10 kids there or 20 (there was 20 at their big arena show at the colleseumn in LA when they openned up for winger in 87). all the kids there who stayed definitely got pillory's money worth in that set. |
__________________________________ [Oct 24,2005 2:08pm - brian_dc ""] deported to Prague! is that serious? seems like that would be a pretty big problem |
