DON'T ASSUME I COOK!

it's that time, to retube this puppy.

any recommendations? it is Sovtek I should go with?

I like my Deicide treble but would also like a little more crunch-warmth.

I have a jcm 800 and when i had it re-tubed they put in sovtek tubes. it sounds great. its my back-up amp, eric is now using it as his bass head for grief and he loves it.

I dont know much about those type of tubes, class-wise (I use 6l6s/EL34s and 12ax7s)
But I have learned to stay away from Chinese tubes.
I use Mesa Tubes personally, but Sovtek makes decent ones too.
Ive never tried Groove tubes, I hear good and bad things about them.
Try to buy them ina matched pair preferably biased to your amp, and yer golden.

agreed. paul from shred the past has a JCM900 with brand new sovteks, it sounds amazing. but if you're looking for crunch and brightness, you might want to go with ruby/groove tubes. the sovteks are pretty dark, but that's why i love them.
