I'm just starting this thread to ask if anyone here can give me some names/email adresses/phone #s of people in the area who do the booking at any of the clubs and venues where shows happen. my band like many of you is always looking for gigs but it's hard to just wait to be asked to play seeing as there are so many bands. I was able to organize one show "Metal for the SICK" and it was a lot of fun so I'm looking to try and book some more. My band has been talking to people at Ralph's and the Lucky Dog trying to get a show going at each of those places sometime in the few months in adittion to trying to do another show or two at Clark University. I'd like to try and get some other things in the works though seeing as none of those are officially booked yet and seeing as there are so many bands looking for shows so if anyone can give me names of folks who do booking for places in MA, RI, CT, anywhere around here really I'd appreciate it. If its not cool to jsut mention their names here than email me at PLegasey@clarku.edu or leave a message at http://www.myspace.com/bludgeoning

Also let me know if your band is looking to get in on such a show provided I dont fail to book some.

Its pretty easy to get shows at clubs around here, I don't have numbers off hand but here are some places to get started.

Call Goodtimes and ask for Chris McMahon.
Email O'Briens
Harpers Ferry... they can sometimes be pretty uptight though.

Ahh there is plenty more, basically just call and ask about setting up a show and they'll usually tell you what dates they have open still. It's really not that hard, all you basically have to do is ask.

Places to stay the hell away from though....

Reflections... the guy booking their will scam you any chance he gets.
The Crypt... its back to being managed by some deuche bag who basically wants 900 dollars from the door before you get anything... which is retarded.
Club Fuel... they want 500 bucks now to put on shows, nobody plays there anymore anyway.
Anything booked by Onslaught Entertainment.
Rockpile... pretty sure its closed now, but just incase, only steers and queers play there...

help yourself, don't expect people to help you. that's my advice, no there isn't any direct hostility in that statement, so don't think there is.

club fuel cancelled a show we were supposed to play for a gay reason. that place blows.

is that lionel? he booked power glove for this weekend at harper's with 2 screamo/numetal bands. we wanted to play with powerglove, but lionel didn't think we'd fit. somehow a melodic metal band doesn't fit with a power metal band but screamo/nu metal/metalcore type bands do. nice logic.

Lionel also pays bands based on where they played on a show, not their draw... not that money is an issue but when he promises to pay you and that fucks you over, its pretty gay. We did an onslaught show where 52 people paid to get in, 35-40 were our friends... we got umm... 40 bucks. And the other bands got close to 100... yea... gay.

The only band that Powerglove (a power metal band that covers all Nintendo and Super Nintendo music) would fit in with would be us pretty much. lol

that is a pretty gay policy.

powerglove would fit in with us. our guitarists are roomates and we're both really melodic. they'd fit really well with you guys, being instrumental and power metal.

don't worry! none taken. Believe me we don't expect no help from nobody around here or anywhere. Everybodys gotta be able to get it done themselves and not just wait for someone else to take their hands and show 'em what to do. Funny thing is some folks have been pretty helpful to us at least as far as information goes which is all I've asked for. But in general you're absolutely right which is pretty much why I started this thread so I could try and get some info so we could get some things going ourselves and maybe help some other folks out if we can get some stuff booked.

Cecchini - thanks for the names! we appreciate it and I'll be getting in touch with all those right away. Thanks also for the names of places to stear clear of.

Powerglove souncs ecxellent. theyd fit with us too! >:]

I highly reccomend getting ahold of Goodtimes, its an awesome place to play and Chris McMahon who runs the shows is an awesome guy to work with. He'll give anybody a chance when he can and I've never seen personally or heard of him dicking over any band in any way. The only downside is that its 21+.
