I'm here now, mega easy to find. oh, and there is a spighetti dinner here from 4pm to 7pm for a $5 donation. they are going to lose $$ on that if all the metalkids come out.

the show started really late, but with all the line up changes, that was a good idea. The cause was the lack of a PA and not too many people being present. the kid booking this show has never booked a show before. I was giving him some pointers earlier... let's hope he follows them.

kirkbride complex, the: sick vocals. From the last time I saw them, I didn't know they would fit this show, but some of their stuff was like TYAG. and other parts towards the end were more groovey like commit suicide. There was also a "hardcore" feel to it so people could dance, it there were to so choose. Sort of like bitgota. They played completely in the dark so my flashes were like daggers stabbing everyone in the face/eyes.
all I have to say about that is "Ha" and "Ha".

hm.. The promoter could be a little more forceful getting the bands up and playing. I have a feeling this show is going to run late.

proteus: awesome! I got a demo from them. I was hope el justin and more people would get out to this show to see them. It seems like a lot of people were into it. One kid dance for them. Their music was very full and heavy sounding. I think it had to do with the 2 1/2 stacks for the guitars and the 2 bass cabs. Matt's vocals, though not as loud as joey IDN's vocals, run a similar gambit. The disgusting lows and shrill hi-pitched inhales. They have tons of slamy, breakdownish parts, but they cut them off just when kids would start dancing which I found highly amusing. there are also some "ambient" parts like throwing shrapnel used to do. These parts reminded me of the old hellraiser sound track. They "ended" their set with a ton of feedback. But matt got up and started screaming and the other guys joined him to play another song.

10 bands left....

deathamphetamine: it's funny about the new exodus song title, couse the sound a little similar. Deathamphetamine is just more thrashy. reminded me for of the forsaken or a band like that; trashy, but with a touch of swedish sound to it. They have some falsetto vocals which rule.

9.... Left...

Dour Curvisa: they gave me the 2 song unmstered this that was talked about previously. it's like their 2nd song that totally reminds me of someone. I just can't remember who... Same band as the last time I couldn't remember. The departed and last chance guys backed them up through the clapping parts.

last chance to reason: I don't think I've seen them before. They are from maine.. I think.. The samples they played were perfectly intergrated Into their set. they sounded a lot like BMA bands like FASSW. The crowd was right up in the front, but with all the dancing, they cleared out and moved back quickly. some of their samples were from aquateen hunger force. I don't like that show so I don't know.

departed, the: their set probably had the most amount of people dancing that night. other than that, it sounded good. During their set, brian (throwing shrapnel) and I decided to walk around in the 20' span between the band and the crowd, it started a wave-of-moshilation. I have a feeling that a lot of people are leaving after the departed's set. Let's see if I'm right.

??? left. I don't think the finite showed.

throwing shrapnel: yeah, aot of the crowd took off so ts had a small crowd. They did have someone moshing for one of their songs. I'm not joking either, honest to goodness moshing. They played the same set as last night, but there were many pauses at all so they got through it quickly. Hey, did I mentiong that they had someone dancing for them? Actually at the end, there was a gaggle of highschool girls dancing for them

cryptic warning: it's always a good thing when people say "whoah" to your sound check. These thrash metal kicks are completely nuts in you face. I'm not sure if this is their last show or not. The guy who put the show on was trying to get all of them to disrobe. New song? They played a new song. I guess this is for the cryptic warning sequal band.

nicaea room, the: they were missing a guitar player. People danced a lot for them. Though at one point, some girl starte trying to beat up a guy. That was pretty priceless. Of course, my shot of it didn't come out. They played their last song and their second guitarist walked in so they got to play another song with him before they were done. I'm not positive, but I think every song they played was about an astronaut.

I got one once and it sucked. They put chicken in it, so I brought it back and was like "Dude, there's not supposed to be chicken in this and furthermore I specifically said to you 'Please do not put any meat at all in it, whether it's supposed to be there or not'". They then gave me two new ones that were basically cheese whiz and rice.

hah that happend to our guitarist jeff. he cant eat processed red-meat, he is exrtemely allerigc to it. so he got a 1/2 pound burrito, i think it was bean and beef or something, he was like "can you put chicken in it instead, im allergic to red-meat" they said ok. sure enough its full of kibble. so on the way out we threw a giant mountain dew behind the counter. yes.

On why The Finite didn't play, Steve just quit the band so they are short a guitarist. So I asume thats why they didn't play.

I would just like to say thanks to everyone who came out to this. Its too bad more people didn't go because they missed a lot of good music. Everyone in Proteus had a great time. Mad props to all the bands, and especially to the Rev for his marathon-like endurance. We'll be making more free demos to pass around, so if you didn't get one drop me a line and I will make sure to send one to you via mail.

Also, Taco Bell doesn't hold a candle compared to Moe's.

auburn system, the: long time since I've seen these guys. I heard that matt wasn't in the band anymore. They moved members around, putting regan back on bass and moving the bass to guitar. These guys have been touring like this for the passed month so they worked well together. A bunch of people danced around for them, clearing the floor.

XStars Fell OnX: the drove 80 miles to get 8 minutes before wasteform. I think they claimed to be from alabama. There was an extra set of equipment on the side so I knew there had to be another band. They played hardcore sort of like death threat stile. All the kids that had stayed danced around a lot and threw chairs, garbage cans, etc...

wasteform: so, I was just realizing that I've seen these guys a ton of times. It seems that they are forever having line up changes. Currently, they only have justin on guitars. They lost the guy that jumped and danced sort-of-nu-metally. The only constant is tiny. Probably one of my favorite front man in a dm band and one of the nicest dudes (especially when he's nicely toasted). they sounded really good in that wide open room and all the kids that stayed had fun circle pitting, headbanging, and basically just going apeshit for them. I go to a lot of hardcore shows and a lot of metal shows so when the two "cultures" are together at one show, having a blast, it's awesome. there were a lot of people who I know are wasteform fans that didn't show. It would have been awesome if more people showed up to see them, but whatever. Their set was still a good time. even though justin doesn't miss a beat even when he's getting molested from the crowd. I think they should look for a second guitar player to add to the live set. On CD it doesn't matter cause you can multi-track things, but live it would.
Oh, where is the bassist from? I forget what band he was in.

adam told me the bass player joaquin, was in detriment and did the samples for skinless.

yeah akim was the guitarist for detriment (jason from mucopus/skinless was the singer, they played one of the sick shit fests) and he toured with skinless doing samples and stuff like that. he also was the tour manager for the berzerker for a couple of years.

Tiny is one of the best frontmen ever. I was tempted to yell "smoke crack" there, but no one woulda thought it be funny, since I've never seen any of those kids before in my life.
"Everyone put your mean face on"
"This place is like France, only less French"
"You guys in the back, come on up, you're gonna miss the break down, call AAA!"
That made my night and weekend. Thank you Wasteform, you heros of New York, you princes of destruction, you dukes of wittyness.

haha, the place was really just like France for some odd reason. just backwards sort of. and less french.
