Guitar help[views:4850][posts:7]_____________________________________ [Dec 18,2005 12:43am - ltdec-1000 ""] The bottom strap hole threads on my esp is stripped, and i would duct tape it, but i dont want the residue all over my guitar. Any suggestions? Or if theres no immidiate solution, how easy is it to get sticky gunk off a guitar? |

Buy a slightly larger dowel at a hobby shop. Fill the hole with glue, insert the dowel, cut it, and wipe away excess glue. Re-drill and screw your straplock back in. |

The resin melts the wood on a molecular level, and if done correctly forms a wood bond stronger than the original natural bond. I've done this operation on many guitars and it works well. any resin glue will do, but I use elmers outdoor yellow wood/carpenter's glue (as does ken patin of yavcon guitars and Neal Moser of MCS). If you go with arrowhead's method, it will work just as well but make sure you get a dowel that isn't treated. chemicals in pressured/treated woods can react with your guitar's finish and turn green like copper. |
