So, Dan got a google alert for Shroud of Bereavement today, and he contained a link to a place to buy our CD ...Of Ages, IN ITS ENTIRETY online as .mp3's for $0.99. along with the site that he got the link in the google alert for, I also found another site that has the CD for $0.79 as mp3's.
We are not seeing a penny of royalties for this, and it's TOTAL FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!
Dan's pissed, as am I, and I'm sure the rest of the band will be ready to kill once they catch wind of this.
not only that, but they stole a picture from Return to the Pit on one of the sites so they could post a picture of us
I'm preparing a cease and dessist letter to send to both websites.

On top of that, all you local bands that have released anything, you may too want to look for your stuff and see if your shit is being sold royalty free without your consent.

exactly. free promotional downloads or samplers are fine, but when someone is cashing in on something someone else spent their time in creating.

Find the IP address of the site(s) in question, go to the ARIN/WhoIs database and find out who the administrator is for that network/addresses and contact them that way. It's one way to look up the assholes and put pressure on them as well.

Did you publish your music? Russian websites might not be under the same jurisdiction as American laws regarding the copyright of music. However, if their site is hosted from a company that is, then you might be able to contact their server and get them shutdown that way or threaten to sue.
