You are fluent in German, right? Could you help me figure out this website? I can figure out enough to know I want to go to this fest, but not enough to get the information I need. I don't even know what city it's in! The bands playing it are amazing

www.party-san.de/

google translator sucks. I can understand the german better than their supposed english.

the fest is the one I want.
Surfing the site, I found a map. If its referring to the correct event, I should be all set.

reading it says that party-san is in weimar.
I believe (if I remember my limited germany knowledge) that weimar is the wine making region of germany.

for you, here is all the germany you need to know:
ich moechte noch ein mal.
(iK mork-ta nock eye-n mahl)
translation: I want another, usually for food, but mostly meaning a drink

I think Eric should get off his ass and ask one of his german speaking relatives to help figure out these damned sites .

I now know erfurt is the destination and that there are cool bars and clubs in the area to check out, judging from that metaltravelguide

Ein bier bitte- that's the only german I need to know.

Once I figure out how I'm going to book a flight, how to get there and that good stuff

I think besides english, german is the only language that I know more than carina. I school-wise, know more spanish and spanish words, but carina is just so damn good at languages and italian is so close to spanish that she is esentially fluent in spanish and could probably fake being fluent in german.
I live in america so it's VERY hard for me to get into the mode of not using english... it's like there is a wall in my head to switch over to it and I can't get the switch to flip. she goes through 3 languages like nothing when talking on the phone. it's amazing... I think it's got something to do with the part of the brain that you learn languages in which is dependent on the age at which you learn them.

I took five years worth (block sceduling) of spanish in high school and I remember so very little. I could say basically anything I needed to communicate and I've forgotten most of it, I just never use it. I can understand people speaking it, which is useful for knowing when immigrants in Boston are talking about me.
Americans are so ignorant. If I wind up going to this fest, which I full intend to, I'm going to try to learn to decently speak Deustch

~this is carina (forgot my password)
sorry i only saw this now! looks like you got a reply though..thanks wannabe carina ;)
and aaron, as for knowing english better..
1. i definitely spell better than you =)
in terms of german...i thought we were at the same level...you studied it and i didn't, so you might be better. I really believe that living someplace is the best way to learn the language
i have relatives in germany and while they speak italian and german, their kids only speak german and their italian is broken, i stayed with them for a while...then i lived in zurich for a while where i spoke swiss german and would randomly toss in italian words here and there and got by!
as a kid i spoke italian, french and english..then spanish whenever my latin american cousins were around.

~~me again
i rambled about the languages because i think it's important and i know that when aaron and i have kids, i will definitely be teaching them italian as least

I don't think kids should swear.
and since that is all I know that italian is used for...

good for you!

I definitely want to learn to speak something besides English,(fluently I mean), and to live somewhere else at some point in my life besides the U.S. I told my grandmother a couple years back I wanted to learn Swedish and Norweigan also, for the hell of it, and she told me to learn German and then Swedish because they are so similar, being germanic in origin. Going to that fest could be a good impetus to try and be less of an ignorant American
