I dig them for some classic metal riffs with sweet mosh that no one likes but everyone who gets made fun of on rttp. however, I got my hands on their soon to be released CD. They've gone the route of taking some black metal influence. Parts sound like old Opeth and Emperor. Surrounded with Mosh. Judging by chord progressions alone, I can say that they were trying to get a slightly black metal vibe going. Using nothing but big minor chords is kind of black metal. It's influence...not proclaiming them a black metal band. I like the fact that this album isn't 90% breakdowns as opposed to the previous one. I hate the vocals too though...definitely way too dry. At the end of the day, I don't feel like defending this band. I thought it was a good listen. Meh. |
