Lasted just under 3 hours. I have 3 titanium plates and 12 screws in my cheek now, and a really annoying metal splint on my nose (but only till Wednesday :p). No external scars - all the incisions were made inside my cheek on my upper gumline. The swelling's not even noticeable anymore, and the bruises are only a faint yellow. I'm healing a lot faster than I thought I would. The only thing that's awkward is that I have no sensation on half of the left side of my face (it feels like a corpse... soooo weird!) from the resulting nerve damage - but that will return with time. Pain comes and goes, but they gave me some good drugs to take care of that. The best part... was cutting up a piece of meat... and chewing it last night. Sometimes we forget how exciting the simple things are until they're taken from us. =) |
