So I've got a queen sized bed & box spring. No frame. I wanted something to lift the bed up to give myself some storage space underneath. But the whole point of bed raisers is that the legs from the frame lock into the tops of the raisers.

If I'm gonna do that then I might as well buy a whole goddamn frame. And I'm not prepared to drop $150 just to get 6 inches of storage space.

So I'm weighing some creative alternatives. Do any of you mechanically inclined individuals have any suggestions on anything I can build, or buy that'll give me 5-6 inches of clearance under my bed, but will be sturdy enough to not collapse?

cinder blocks + plywood+ 2x4s cut up and put in the cinder blocks to stop the bed from sliding should only cost like 20 bucks for the plywood at homedepot

I was going to suggest the blocks. you are going to need some thick plywood and then your room will smell like the plywood glue.

i doubt the smell of plywood will last very long... plus u can just go through peoples trash and find old bed frames.

Go to a flea market or yard sale. Someone will have one of those 2 piece metal frames for like $10. You could also try a place like Building 19.

+1 on the building 19.

The frame will probably be like 40 bucks there.

check under furnature and household under 'bed frame', there's a bunch of shit. most of it's above 100$ but there's a few cheap frames, I don't know if there's a queen-sized one though.

go to bed bath and beyond and get a box of bed lifts. gives you six inches more. They are not too pricey. Less than $20 for a pack of 4.
