The small models....weird, everything is flash memory.....wonder if 5 years from now, pc's will go the same route.
But, how fucking fast can flash mem be vs new 10,000rpm hd's??

flash memory isn't ready for this.. they only can take like 300 million writes...
I say "mmmm" about this.

replace the hd on my lappy with flash and the battery life will go from 3hrs to 10hrs.

Storing things on flash memory is worthless for my webpage designs. When they are on memory, for some reason there is no Iframe support, even with IE.... it's totally fucked and doesn't make any sense but it's the truth.

what they are talking about are hard drives. from the OS, you will see nothing different at all. they will look and act exactly like a normal hard drive. they will not be called flash. they will not look like flash. they will not store things in "memory" that is RAM and that's what RAM does. RAM is typically the 2nd fastest memory on your computer and beats the access speed of your hard drive someone like 10x to 100x
RAM cock cycles are around 333-566Mhz which allows 3.2-5.4GB/s.

hard drives on the other had, normally sustain under 100Mbps. granted SATA II is listed for 3.0GB, but that is burst speed and not sustained speed.

Mostly unrelated: I want one of these for no reason at all:

4GB HDD composed entirely of PC3200. Gets power through the PCI slot, data goes over SATA cable, and it's battery backed-up.
