[QUOTE="the_reverend:472468"][band=Two_Sided_Season]: I only saw these guys once, a year ago at the muddy river. They actually had a bunch of people there listening to them. Most of whom were in freshly purchased ozzfest shirts. The new-shirt smell of this venues must be a merchandiser's wet dream. One kid even started coreographed 2-stepping to their music. Not 2-step by any means, but whatever. The last time I saw them, I though they had 70's rock vocals sprinkled through out. Eh, that could have been another band. Their music was more core than before. their set started off late cause the lights would flickering cutting power to guitar stage left. This ended their set early, but then they ran up and did another song. [band=Psyren]: this was their 3rd show ever. it was also their bassplayer's first show with them. I really don't know what it should have sounded like cause the guitar was non-existent for the majority of their set. I think it was a chord and demons. It was finally worked out by the end of their set. From what the metalguy was doing, I think he had a DI from his guitar that could have been the problem. The drummer had some ridickerous cymbal tower going on. It looked like a xmas tree in whoville. the girl had a decent scream, but with out the guitar melodies coming through, it sounded out of key and out of place during a lot of the non-screaming parts. My suggest (and I hate to say this) is for them to get a keyboard player. this would fill in a lot of the thin parts and could play off the vocals too keep them in check. But it might work with the guitar in place. Oh, and thus far, their are two other guys with professional digital cameras (both with no flash). One looks like a canon 30D (possible a 5D) with the logo blacked out, but on closer inspection, the logo seat is way too small. I will guess it was a minolta/konica/sony. Also a sigma lens... I would venture to guess it's a 24-70 f/2.8, but I'm not sure (the outer element is a little too bulbous and the hood is wrong) and the other body is a older nikon pro-body.. A D1_ body with a 50mm on it (with a hood which makes me wonder if it's prone to flaring). [band=Vertigod]: the real singer is in a 1/2 way house for being drunk or something. The two singers from the band end of everthing filled in. they switched off 1/2 way through the set.i liked the first dude's vocals better. Anyhow, this meant no deuling mics. people started moving during their set. It was a full on [term=bro-mosh] next to two shirtless dudes hugging in a pit, the bro-mosh is the next funniest thing. Watching guys charge at each other like bulls is just too funny. [band=RUIN]: damn, these guys were awesome. I saw the testament shirt an thought it a touch queer at this show. Well, these guys fucking killed. They sounded like Death and the best part is that the crowd was very full, people slammed, and headbanged for their entire set. I have a feeling they had the largest crowd of the night. Revocation needs to book a show with these dudes in a serious way. add them to the trashy death colletive that gets called into force for thrashterpiece showcases. [band=GoatWhore]: this was hands down the best goatwhore set I've ever seen. They fit this venue like it was made for them. ben was right up in everyone's face, standing on the barricade, conducting the crowd as it transitioned from slamming to headbanging and then into an almost circle type pit. I love how they mix goregrind basslines which get the crusty kids into their music and then blow open the new orleans crypts, and play slow funeral dirge music that has a unmistakable Louisiana feel to it. the most shocking occurrence of the night was when someone actually yelled that metallica st anger was good. He seemed quite pissed about it. I guess he missed the episode where james hatfield went back in time and destroyed anything good that the band ever released. [band=Strapping_Young_Lad]: Devin went on about there being nothing cool about ozzfest. “We sell booze and sneakers”. Holgan is a monster on those drums. Well, a lot of times he’s nothing special and then he breaks away from whatever simple things he’s doning and charges on hitting that cymbal thinger. So fast. So good. I would list out the songs they played, but I sort of deleted the blurry picture that you could sort of see the set list on.[/QUOTE]
