The guy they had for the last two albums was a gigantic hack, so I'm glad they fired him. Stefan is also probably one of my favorite songwriters (both in Falconer and Mithotyn). he has such an awesome ear for epic melody that is pretty much always spot-on to me. |

I could name about 200 power metal vocalists I like more than Falconer without breaking a sweat. In fact, that's the exact reason I don't like Falconer, the vocals have always sounded extremely corny, even the theater singer. Too much loud Swenglish in there. The music is decent, but nothing I haven't heard better from many other folk or power metal bands. I like that they mix the two styles up a little, even throwing in a little thrash. I didn't like really Mithotyn either, I thought they were a failed attempt to make more accessible Viking folk/black stuff, completely outclassed by Enslaved and pretty much every other band doing it. They have a few decent albums though. |

It's totally cheesy and overly dramatic, but that's what I look for in power metal (and in Viking metal to a much much much lesser extent) and don't worry, I already know I am an untrue metal poser. I do think they have their own little niche though, and I like the way that most people can usually pick out a Falconer riff the instant they hear it and can tell their vocals apart from most other bands in the genre. |
