Relapse Records has set an October 17 North American release date (October 23rd internationally) for the reissue of Sounds of the Animal Kingdom (1997) and the preceding Kill Trend Suicide mini-CD (1996) from seminal '90s grindcore / extreme metal outfit BRUTAL TRUTH.

These recordings, heralded by metal publications the world over in their day, will be released in one specially-priced, re-mastered package. The reissue will also include bonus video footage in the form of the bands scarcely seen 'Dead Smart' video, extensive and exhaustive liner notes from each member of the band, and a forward from Choosing Death author Albert Mudrian. For more information on this reissue, please click here: http://shop.relapse.com/store/product.aspx?ProductID=24053

In the wake of the reissue, BRUTAL TRUTH has regrouped and will perform a handful of exclusive dates. In addition to the previously announced September 3 show at Chicago's Electric City Rockfest, the band has added performances as part of the Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles 6-Pack Weekend IV and the 2007 edition of the Maryland Deathfest. Full details on all BRUTAL TRUTH reunion shows follow this announcement

Drummer Rich Hoak comments on the bands reunion; "The original impetus for the reformation of BRUTAL TRUTH was a quick recording session of an EYEHATEGOD cover song ('Sister F*cker') for a compilation to benefit our friends in the band, who had lost all of their musical equipment in the Hurricane Katrina disaster. As we were grinding and smoking, we considered the current state of the planet and it became obvious to us that the world needs BRUTAL TRUTH now more than ever!" Hoak continues, "We are totally psyched to be back together and grinding to the extreme! We’re looking forward to seeing our old fans again, meeting new fans and, of course, busting out the most extreme grind possible!”

BRUTAL TRUTH bassist Dan Lilker adds; "After 8 years of not playing psychotically fast grind music, it feels damn good to be doing it again. Look out cause we're about twice as fast now."

this band is timeless. One of the few reunions that doesn't turn my stomach at the thought.

Maybe now more bands will learn what real grind sounds like
