A lo of people rocking out and even dancing for them. When their set was over, the sold out crowd cleared out. I was in the front for a couple songs, but it felt like I was just getting in the way of their friends so I went out side and enjoyed almost crystal clear sound from out there. |

Vannella and I'm not sure what else, but it made standing to stage-right bareable. they cracked into a bunch of songs that I know from the CD/seeing the. Many times. Honestly, this was one of the better sounding sets. The only thing that really went wrong was when the "black cobra" girl grabbed the mic from ken and started screaming into as he fought her to get it back. Then he just gave up and let go. The girl tumbled over on the stage, rolling over the bass pedals and screaming something really important into the mic.. Ken sort of tossed her up off the stage and the staff pulled her in to the back for a second (i think). The also had a flutist come up on stage and play for one brief part of one song. Bruce (zeroflesh) nd I were running all over the floor/stage blinding people. (sorry to the guy that I did actually blind). |

But that's right, 2 friggen guys in this band and they were awesome. The guitarists was playing through at least a full stack, but I think he was also going through a bass cab (or 2?). Whatever the set up, it was loud and very full sounding. With 2 members they were able to get some really rich sounds, but also quiet right down really quickly and let a tiny bit of noise ring through behind sparce notes. When the song kicked back in, the drummer looked like he was punishing those skins. Some of the more rocking parts reminded me a bit of mastodon. |

| _______________________________________ [Sep 17,2006 12:40pm - the_reverend ""] acid king: never heard of this band before. They were pretty rocking. Grief style doom with a 70's rock feel. It's like they are playing b-sides (45's) from Cream at 33rpm. you know the music sounds familiar, but you can't quite place it. The girl singer came up with some great 70's riffs, but most of the singing didn't do it for me. At the beginning it was too far in front of the music and a lot of it sounded flat or off key. She moved the mic and the vocals got quiter, the music that fill in around the quiter vocals tied them right into the songs. It sounded like there might have been an fx unit on them at this point, but I couldn't tell. It sort of sounded flanged a bit. I had to run at this point since carina and I were shooting a wedding in the morning. |
