Considering the sheer number of opportunities I got to stage dive, I'd say that was one of the best shows I've ever been to. Last time I saw them play (@ Worcester Palladium) I had really been hoping to hear some old stuff but they didn't play anything pre- Jane Doe. It was kind of disappointing, but was fun regardless. Its just better when you know the beats and when to scream along with the songs. They played a really short set, but people were there to hop off the stage and sing along. Tboner came down sort of on my back when he tired. I guess he didn't get caught like he should of. If I hadn't had my camera in my hand.... They did on misfits cover. blacklisted: sort of a long set up time. A lot of the energy from energy seeped out. As soon as they started, the people rushed back in. Tboner was up front the entire time sort of joke moshing. At one point, I'm pretty sure his balls were on my sholder... Is that rock cause that aint pretty. They had 2 people come up on stage and do guest vocals. I think one was the singer of shipwreck and the other I don't know. Lot of people rolling around the stage for them. A taste of what's to come. I'm a little scared! kidding. |

Their set up time was wholy acceptible and their set was awesome. People rolling around and having fun. Can't get much more positive than that! they started off with the outsiders like usual. The place lit off and didn't stop until the end. And the second they finished, the front cleared out. Right at the end of their set, there was a HUGE pig pile up on stage. during their set, I couldn't stand out front stage right. Even wiith my earplugs, it was so damn loud. some girls: what the fuck was that? They did their sound check and it was the most painful thing ever. And then the sound guy had them redo EVERYTHING. That's 2 drum-set, 2 guitars, 3 vocals, and the bass. Once their set actually started, the most part, their set was very subdued. Then for the last song, the bassplayer went up behind the 2nd kit and started playing. Then kurt (converge) came out playing guitar, jake (converge) came out screaming, and more people came out on drums, including wes, the singer. It decended into madness rather quickly with an actual pig pile on the mic and wes smashing the drums he was playing. Awesome way to end a show let alone a set. People ran up to clean the stage for converge. |

And then they closed with Saddest Day ~ it blew my mind! This show was waaaaaaay better than when they played at the Worcester Palladium a few months back. I love it when there's no barricade between the crowd and the stage. That shit's raw... exactly as it's meant to be! I'm a little bummed that I missed the first couple bands though. I didn't get there until Modern Life Is War started... but at least I didn't have to wait in line!!! Crazy crowd all the way through the night!!! People were tearing it up during MLiW. Some Girls took FOREVER to start and if you were listening/watching from anywhere close to the stage, the vocals were practically nonexistant. How many times did the vocalist ask the sound guy for more outta his mic? And then when the crowd shouted out "more vocals" did we get it? Didn't seem like it. That was not cool. Other than that, this entire show has kept me grinning from ear to ear since sometime in the early afternoon Sunday. I was thouroughly pleased with the set list for Converge. :bow: I think they played a pretty good variety of songs old & new. The energy from this show is gonna keep me going for a while! |

After I made a simple complaint about the red lights, he got the house guy to put white lights over them. Made my job so much easier. converge: have yet to disappoint me. the set sounded awesome. They stuck mostly to the last 3 CDs, but also played locust reign and another... When they announced locust reign, I was tucked down in front on stage and my flash batteries were dead. What a terrible place and a terrible time for that to happen! it was just after you fail me. I was able to switch them quickly and keep snapping. at some point during their set, the mic became a giant fishing line hooked around 1/2 the people in the front. They ended their set (forget the song) and said they didn't want to do another song, but after a few minutes of looking like they weren't going to play another song, they picked up their equipment and went straight into the saddest day (ironically making it everyone's happiest day). From the first epic notes to the end, people went crazy. this song is a 7 minute trip though awesomeness. I fully understand why they only pull this out as a rare gem. At the end of the song, I was behind the drummer, pushed back as far as I could just trying to get as much of the scene as I could. I looked down at one of the last frames and damn if I wasn't getting a pose struck by chris. after so many years of listening to them and seeingg them, I coudn't have been more happy. amazing how they spend 15 years writing song about so many sad things and the shoulds are so positive. |
