Their alarm has been stoked by a highly suspect claim that if current trends continue, only 4 percent of teenagers will be “Bible-believing Christians” as adults. That would be a sharp decline compared with 35 percent of the current generation of baby boomers, and before that, 65 percent of the World War II generation. "I’m looking at the data,” said Ron Luce, who organized the meetings and founded Teen Mania, a 20-year-old youth ministry, “and we’ve become post-Christian America, like post-Christian Europe. | ______________________________ [Oct 23,2006 3:24pm - Yeti ""] i think that with the uprising of education, not in the schooling sense but the personal sense, we are going to see a steady decline in religious beliefs. there is more and more popping up every day that exposes the lies and hypocrisy behind religion. people are realizing how dangerous it is, and after the generations before us die off, there wont be such a pressing need for it. people only believed in god because they were afraid of retribution, and no one to tell them otherwise. and really it was only retribution by those that worked in the religious hierarchy because they were the ones that executed all those labeled as heretics or heathens. maybe thats just fleeting hope though, and people are so desperate for a reason to existence that they will scoop up whatever fodder is thrown their way. yeah i'm more inclined to believe that one. |
