in the market for a new recorder.

i have the fostex mr8 and i like the sound for a 16 bit, but i want more tracks both simultaneously and virtually

i heard the tascam 2488s crash constantly so im veering toward either the Fostex VF160EX 16 track or the Zoom MRS1608 16-Track.

i dont know about zoom too well and boss is a bit pricey but im willing to sacrifice

anyone familiar with multi-tracks?

I have had a Roland VS1880 for 5 years and it has never failed on me, I love that thing! I have never had any problems with any roland gear come to think about it!

i have a alesis hd24 stand alone 24 track. it's not one of those all in one units with the mixing board, effects and preamps built in like the ones mentioned in this thread. i think those things are cheesey. might as well get a computer interface and multitracking program. it would most likely be cheaper and definately be higher quality and more flexible.
